Chapter 40

My heart is beating fast as he stares deep into my eyes. "Who's he?" He's got to be more specific. He chuckles as he shakes his head confusing me even more.

"It's him Vera the one that's been lurking in your shadow. He's my brother" his brother! Who? Why does he seem so angry I thought all he wanted to do was find his brother. He was distraught when he found out he wasn't here. Well he wasn't supposed to be here.

"That's great news isn't it? He's alive." I try to sound positive but he's hiding something from me. It's clearly bothering him as he hasn't moved nor given me any space.

"He knew I was here the entire time" oh....I mean there could be multiple reasons why his brother might've stayed away but he won't know unless he asks.

I put both my hands on his shoulders "who is it Draven? He could've just been worried that you wouldn't recognise him. You don't need to act irrational." I'm grasping at straws but there's got to be a valid reason.

"You know Isaac well don't you? He didn't want to be found but stayed close by you." Isaac? Hold on wait a Damn minute. Isaac! As in the guy who's been following me around from the start. The one that saved him. That Isaac.

"Isaac? Are you sure? I mean I've know him since I got here and he never mentioned you or having family. You've been bleeding heavily maybe you've made a mistake." if I had any idea I would've told him straight away. They don't look alike. Or did I just not notice?

"I know my own brother Vera" he snaps I push him away so I have some space. I have no idea why he's taking it out on me as if I went out my way to keep it from him.

"I'm sure you're both confused and shocked but you're both injured and I don't think it's best to speak with him just yet. He may need some time." That and he told me to stay away. This is probably the reason why.

He goes silent and I know he knows I'm right. I don't really know what else to tell him because I can't imagine how he's feeling. He thought he would never see him again. He hasn't seen him in years.

When I first saw Eve there was no way anyone was dragging me back. He looks so stressed and it's not good for him. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him into a tight hug. "I know right now you want all these questions answered and I wish I could give them to you but right now you need to rest." His head is resting on my shoulder

He rarely shows vulnerability and it's nice to see that he can confide this side of him in me. "He even changed his name." he pulls away and heads for the door and now my adrenaline is kicking in. He said to stay away and he might think I sent him by purpose. Draven is riling himself up.

I want them to talk it out and learn to have one another again but Isaac said somethings that now are clear signs to me that Draven hurt him bad. "Draven stop it if you do this it might make matters worse." I rush after him

Yet I know no matter what I say he's not listening. People look at me like I'm crazy as I call for him to stop. I know he doesn't know where he is. He continues to blank me on his hunt for him.

"This place is like a maze you won't find where he's staying. Just come back with me and we'll talk about it and find him tomorrow. I promise it's for the better." he stops and I think he's finally listening to me.

He grips my wrist and I wait for what he's waiting to say. "Vera tell me where he is." his face is stern like he's talking to a child. I try to yank my hand away but he isn't letting go.

"How would I know?" I do know but I don't want to intrude on Isaac especially when he has a concussion. I don't see a way where this goes the way Draven wants it to.
