Day one of being Avenged Sevenfold's temporary manager began as soon as I stepped through the doors at work, the morning a little brighter than the last. Abigail managed to sleep through the night without nightmares and she was rested and back to the hyper little girl that she'd always been. Now, I was honestly looking forward to this little add-on of a job I was officially starting today.
I found Avenged's schedule on my desk as Larry promised, today they'd be coming into the studio at ten. The studio room number was given, and I knew exactly where it was just by looking at the number. I'd unknowingly passed it countless times when I was with the other band, Screaming Darkness, and now remembered that there was a Deathbat on the front of the door. It was kind of funny how I never saw Jimmy around until this whole debate about letting Abigail meet him started.
Since it was now only a little after eight, I had two hours to kill so Camryn and I sorted through the rest of the merch for Screaming Darkness that had not been sorted through already, to take to their show later tonight. We put t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and other clothing into the same boxes. Posters went into another, accessories such as bracelets, hats, necklaces, lanyards, and belts went into the same box as each other. We just got everything organized according to the type of merch and marked the boxes with black sharpies.
By the time we were done, it was exactly ten. Larry had left a note that they knew they were going to have a new manager for a little while until he got back, but he hadn't told them who. I hurried down to the studio floor and walked down the long corridor until I reached their studio.
I opened the door, taking a deep breath before going into the room. They were already here, horsing around while waiting for me. When they heard the door shut, they all looked over at me, and Jimmy's face lit up with surprise.
"You're our manager now?" He asked in a cheerful tone.
"Yep, until Larry gets back I am." I replied, popping the 'p' casually in 'yep'.
"I remember you! You're that girl who works here that Jimmy always seems to sneak away to talk to every time we're here now." Brian said, and I laughed a little.
"Yes, Brian, that would be me. You can all call me Elise, by the way." I said.
"Of course, Jimmy already knows that." Matt smirked at Jimmy.
"Yeah, because I'm just so much better than the rest of you that I knew her before the rest of you did." Jimmy teased back, crossing his arms over his chest proudly.
"Jimmy, the only reason you knew me first was because you knocked me over in the hallway." I pointed out with a smirk of my own, and the others laughed at the fact that I just made that totally backfire on him.
"It was an accident!" He protested.
"I know, I didn't say it wasn't, because it was my fault. I shouldn't have been walking with my head down." I said lightly.
"Well then." He mumbled, seeming to be a little baffled. I kept my smirk plastered to my face as I took my seat outside the booth, at the controls. They filed into the booth and took their places, Brian started tuning his guitar and Zacky did the same. Matt put on his headphones, Johnny plucked at a couple of the strings on his bass and Jimmy sat behind the drum set and picked up his pair of sticks. As for me, I put on my own pair of headphones and gave them a thumbs up to let them know that whenever they were ready was good for me.
Towards the middle of one of the songs they were working on, Matt got frustrated because the note he was singing didn't sound right with the music to him. He kept trying different ways of singing it, in different keys and volumes until he was ready to blame it on the word itself and rewrite the lyrics in that part of the song again. Since none of them really wanted to go through the process of rewriting and they already liked what they had, I got an idea.
