Jimmy's POV

On the afternoon of Christmas Eve, Elise and I sat in the living room together, watching a Shinedown concert on TV. We both kind of sat in the middle of the couch, though Elise had gotten up to go to the bathroom just a moment ago. Abbie was upstairs in her bedroom, talking to Dustin on the phone. Well I guess that's better than actually having him in the same room as her, under my roof. This morning, Abbie greeted us in a not so innocent way.

*Earlier This Morning*

Elise and I were in the kitchen, getting breakfast when Abbie turned the corner, walking past us to the refrigerator. On her way by us, she smirked at us and greeted us with a devious tone that made me feel utterly suspicious.

"Mother. Father." Her smirk grew as her back went to us while she got the grape juice out of the fridge. Elise and I looked at each other and answered at the same time,

"Abigail."

"That's my name, don't wear it out." She said as she set the juice on the counter. I got a small glass down for her, and she still had that smirk on her face as she looked up at me briefly before screwing off the cap and pouring the juice carefully into the cup.

"So, tonight's the party." Abbie said, putting the juice back into the fridge.

"Yes, it is." I replied.

She turned around, taking a sip from her cup and narrowing her eyes at us. "Bet it'll be lots of fun." Elise and I looked at each other again, wondering what was bringing this behavior of hers on. "With possibly lots of excitement and surprises..."

"Uh... sure, I suppose." I shrugged, not really sure what she was talking about. Maybe we weren't supposed to know what she was talking about and she was hinting at something that would take place later tonight.

"I suppose too." She said, still smirking. Then she took a plate of just entirely bacon and ran off back upstairs, giggling on her way up.

With my brow furrowed, I said to Elise, "Should we be concerned?"

"I think that maybe we should be. I can tell she's got something conjured up for tonight." She said.

I nodded. "Oh yeah, something's definitely up."

It just makes me wonder what in the hell this kid is planning in that little head of hers. I wonder too if she's got other people in on it, like if it's all the kids doing something us adults don't know about, or if it's her and one of the guys or girls, maybe more than just one of them, maybe all of them excluding us. I guess I better keep my eyes peeled tonight for something out of the ordinary.

Elise came back wearing a sweatshirt that she hadn't had on before, a Fox one. I gave her a weird look as she down beside me again.

"Are you cold?" I asked, surprised. Usually she's never cold.

"Not really. I just feel like being comfy and all snuggled up inside of it." She shrugged.

"I was gonna say... you're getting old!" I teased, and she stuck her tongue out at me and smacked my arm as she pulled her knees up to her chest, tucking her feet up on the couch.

"You're two months older than I am, Jimmy! I wouldn't be talking if I were you." She pointed out.

"You don't understand. See, I am a super cool magical being thingy, so I get to stay young forever and ever." I smirked.

"Oh you would be." Her tone of voice was layered with sarcasm.

"That's right, I would be." I retorted. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her roll her eyes at me and I chuckled, satisfied.
