Abbie's POV

Another week went by, meaning I'd gotten through my last full week of school. It was now June 16th, meaning I had tomorrow and then Tuesday, and I'd be done with eighth grade and middle school in general. Tomorrow we'll be practicing for the graduation ceremony, and we'll have to run through it again during the day Tuesday before coming back that evening for the real deal. Tuesday is only a half day of school though, so it cuts my time even shorter and I am completely ok with that. I really just cannot wait for school to get out so I can spend my days doing absolutely nothing, and hopefully most of the time I'll be doing absolutely nothing with Dustin.

But today was actually a very important day also. Today was Father's Day, and I already had my present to Dad planned out. I'd come up with it on my own, and it was something I worked on all week so I could perfect it. Kaylee and I had signed a card for him last night without him knowing to give to him today, and we put a couple other things in the card for him too. We were just going to spend the day with him, and then later tonight we would go out to eat with the others to celebrate together since my uncles are all fathers too. It was probably going to be a pretty relaxed day.

Mom, Kaylee and I were all awake before Dad was. He seemed to be sleeping later than usual, and Kaylee was getting kind of impatient with him. She kept asking Mom when he would get out of bed, and so after she asked for the fifth time, Mom said,

"Go wake him up if you want to, he won't care."

Kaylee's eyes lit up and she looked at me and exclaimed, "C'mon!"

I laughed and followed behind her as she ran for the stairs, having to jog a little to keep up with her. She waited for me at the top of the stairs, bouncing up and down happily. We walked down the hall together and went into Mom and Dad's bedroom. Dad was lying in the middle of the bed on his back, snoring only slightly with his head turned to the side.

Kaylee and I jumped up onto the bed and crawled up on either side of him, laying our heads on his chest. We stared up at him, waiting for him to wake up and look back at us. It took him a moment to come into complete consciousness, and when he did he lifted his head and looked between the two of us.

"Happy Father's Day, Daddy!" Kaylee and I shouted out before he could say anything.

"That has got to be the best wake up call ever." He grinned and squeezed us tight.

"You were taking too long so Mommy said we could wake you up." Kaylee told him.

He laughed. "Well I'm glad you did. You guys ate yet?"

"Nope." I answered.

"Well then why don't we make the start of this day even better with some food?"

"Ok!" Kaylee and I replied eagerly, sitting up. He chuckled as he sat up, and the three of us made our way downstairs to the kitchen together. We sat down at the bar and Mom gave us our plates and gave me my meds, and then the three of us started stuffing our faces.

"So I hear you commanded the rugrats to get me out of bed." Dad said to Mom, smirking a little.

"I did. Someone was a little impatient for you to get up." She looked at Kaylee, who seemed oblivious to the fact that she was being talked about. "But I will say, you were a bit lazier today than usual."

"Hey, it's Father's Day, is it not? I am a father, it applies to me, and this day is supposed to symbolize the hard work father's do for their kids. I think maybe I deserve to be lazier today." He teased.

Mom laughed. "Uh huh, ok, Jimmy. I think you're just looking for an excuse to justify being lazy."

"Oh c'mon, would I really do that? Me!? Pssht! Nooooo!"
