The last two weeks came and went, and now it was the last day I had with Abbie before Elise comes to take her home. She starts school next week, they're starting at the beginning of September this year. I know that this time, when Abbie goes home, she will see me again a hell of a lot sooner than two years. I'll probably pick her up from school next Friday and take her to Elise at the record label, and we'll probably end up celebrating Abbie's survival of her first week of school with food.

I took Abbie to see my parents, and they came here once to see her now that we've got ourselves back to our form of normal. The others were just as happy to see that we've restored our father-daughter relationship, and when I told Elise she said that if she could hug me over the phone she would. Oh, if only.

Abbie's teased me to no end about being in love with her mother, and though I've never directly admitted it, I've come close. It doesn't matter to her though, she can just tell, the little snot. So usually whenever she teases me, I tickle her or if we're in her room, I'll bounce her mini basketball off her head, or sometimes we'll end up in the midst of a pillow fight.

Today, her and I spent the morning hours being snuggle buddies. We just stretched out on the couch, watching TV, with her lying on top of me, her head nestled into the crook of my neck while I kept either one or both arms around her. When Elise came at noon, she was being lazy and didn't want to move so I could get up to answer the door.

"Abbie, you gotta move."

"Uggggh." She groaned. "There's this great thing, it's called 'carry me'. It allows me not to have to really move."

"Because someone else moves for you, you little goober!" I poked her in the side, and she giggled. Nonetheless, I took her with me and carried her to the entryway, which satisfied her. With Abbie's arms locked around my neck and her legs wrapped around my waist, I opened the door to reveal Elise on the other side. She gave me an amused look when she saw Abbie attached to me.

"She's being lazy, and wouldn't move so I could come let you in, so I had to bring her with me." I explained.

"Ah yes, that would make sense." Elise said.

"Hi Mom!" Abbie turned her head a little.

Elise laughed a little. "Hello, Abbie. How's my favorite lazy eight year old?"

"First of all, I'm your only lazy eight year old. Second of all, I'm eight and a half, thank you very much. Third, I'm pretty good, how 'bout you?" Abbie replied.

Elise shook her head. "I don't know about you sometimes, Abbie." Abbie only smirked proudly.

"So, Mom. You wanna hang out for a while?"

Elise looked at me, and I said, "You know I don't care either way."

"I suppose we can hang out for a while." She answered Abbie.

Abbie grinned happily. "Yay!!"

We went into the living room, where I finally got Abbie to let go of me. She sat beside me, while Elise was on the other side of me. As we sat there, just chilling and watching TV, we talked quite a bit too. Casually, I decided to ask,

"So how's things with Mitch?"

"Mike." Elise and Abbie said at the same time.

"Same thing!" I defended myself.

"There's a reason he can never get it right, y'know!" Abbie sang out, and I elbowed her.

"Keep your mouth shut, goober." I muttered at her, and she just giggled at me.
