When I woke up, the sun was shining brightly and I smiled as I looked out my window into the clear, blue sky. I thought about yesterday and how amazing it was, the thought of having no school today or for another three months delighting me to the max. I flung the covers off of me after a few more minutes, swinging my legs off the side of the bed and stretching as I stood up.
I didn't even bother to get dressed, just stumbling out into the hall and down the stairs. I found my family in the kitchen as I came around the corner. Mom, who had today off from work, was leaning up against a counter while Dad was sitting at the bar with Kaylee in his lap. They looked over at me as I came into the room, stretching again and asking,
"So what's for breakfast?"
Mom raised an eyebrow at me. "Abbie, it's twelve in the afternoon."
I smiled, continuing to stretch. "Yeeeeeaaah. I love summer."
Dad just shook his head, smirking, and Mom said, "You can have lunch, if you'd like. Your father and Kaylee decided on mac and cheese if that works for you."
"All food works for me." I sat beside Dad and Kaylee at the bar.
"You didn't even bother to get dressed?" He asked.
"Pssht! I don't need to get dressed right now, it's summer! I got all kinds of time to get dressed. Cool your jets, old man."
He laughed. "Well alright then. Thanks for waking up before next year got here."
"You're welcome." I replied as he leaned over and kissed the top of my head.
After we ate, I did go and get dressed, pulling on a pair of jeans and keeping them held up with a Grumpy Cat belt that said 'I had fun once, it was awful' that I found in Hot Topic. For a shirt, I just grabbed one of my many comfortable band shirts, this one being Blink-182. I also put Dad's necklace around my neck, still following the tradition of wearing it every day since he let me keep it still once I came back.
I brushed through my hair, finding it easier than usual as I didn't meet to many snags in my long hair that quickly increases in length before I can even notice it. Eventually I'll have to get it cut again because I do not find it fun to take care of super long hair past the middle of my back. Very time consuming, and I don't have that much of an attention span for things like that.
Once I'd done all the usual things to get ready for the day, even though the day was already half over since I was a genius this morning and slept until twelve, I went downstairs after grabbing my phone and turning it on. I sat on the couch beside Dad and texted Dustin for a while when I found he'd sent me a text earlier this morning that said, 'Good morning, beautiful'. I had to sit there for a moment and try not to blush because I didn't want Dad to notice since he was right next to me, Mom and Kaylee on the other side of the room in the chair.
When I had myself under control, I finally sent him one back, telling him that I'll take the beautiful part of that but he should know that I didn't get up until this afternoon. I soon got one back that said,
'Oh, did I say good morning? I meant good afternoon. My bad. (:'
I just grinned to myself and shook my head. 'Yeah, you should probably get used to that because that's what summer's going to be like.'
'Sleep. Eat. Sleep. Music. Sleep. I know.'
'I made a small change to that list. Sleep. Eat. Sleep. Music. Sleep. Dustin.'
'I like that change. The list is now perfect.'
'Agreed.'
'So when does that part of the list come into play?'
