*2 Weeks Later*
I sat on my bed with Mom's laptop, which she'd given me to put the playlist for the vow renewal celebration on to give to whoever will be in charge of being the DJ after the ceremony. I had chosen the song that Mom and Dad would dance to, and I thought it was perfect for their situation. Plus, I really love the song so that always makes it better. Hopefully they would feel the same way, but they must trust me if they wanted to put the responsibility of creating the playlist and choosing the song for them in my hands.
I just finished adding the last of the songs, and they'd given me a short list of songs that must be on there or that they wanted on there. I'd done those first, and then set off doing the rest. They needed the playlist sent to the DJ by tomorrow, so I'd sat down to finish it a little while ago. I'd set it up so that songs that weren't on there could be requested if need be. Mom told me to go ahead and send it to the DJ when I was done, having given me his email. I attached it to the message, explaining what it was and who it was for before sending it and closing the lid.
Next Saturday is the vow renewal, the 27th. Mom already took Kaylee and I to get our dresses, which were short and white, with a wide black ribbon around the middle at the waist. Mom's just wearing a simple white dress, and Dad will be in a black suit. During the ceremony, Kaylee and I will walk down the aisle together, both of us holding small bouquets of flowers since they weren't going to have a flower girl throw down petals this time.
Tomorrow night is the talent show, and I am very nervous. However, I'm quite excited too, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I don't care if we don't win, I just want to see what it's like to perform on stage behind a drum set in front of a huge crowd. The only reason I'm nervous is because I've never drummed on stage before and I don't wanna screw it up. We've been practicing hard these last couple of weeks, so we've been spending quite a bit of time together to make sure we make this performance as great as we can get it while still having fun. And when we're not practicing together, I usually go down into the basement whenever I get the time and run through the song by myself. We all decided that we didn't want our parents to hear it until the night of the show so they're unsure of what to expect, and that means they don't even know what song we're doing. This should be interesting.
Outside of the music, I've noticed that Tyler and Ella seem to flirt more and more each time we practice. While we're playing, they'll make faces at each other and I've even seen Tyler wink at her, which made her blush intensely. During the breaks that we'll take every now and then, they'll kind of go off into their own world together and quietly giggle about something. They'll sit close together and they'll never keep their gazes locked for very long, both of them unusually shy around each other. Before, I hadn't really known if Tyler liked Ella as much as she liked him, but I'm beginning to think he's got a giant crush on her.
It's actually kind of frustrating to watch them because you really just want to scream at them and tell them to just kiss already, but you can't because you have to let them go at their own pace. Interfering could ruin everything, and that can't happen. So, without them knowing while they're off giggling at each other during the breaks, I vent to Isaac about it since he's noticed and it frustrates him too.
Dustin told me yesterday that he'll be at the talent show to watch me perform, so there's another reason for me to want to do really good. However, he also told me that he's not going to be able to make to the vow renewal. Originally, he and his family were going to come because they'd been invited and even if they hadn't been, Mom and Dad would've let me bring him too. But now he can't because they were going to go visit a family member who is really sick and unexpectedly started getting worse. So, his mother decided that they needed to go and stay for a while because they don't get to see this family member often and she thinks that it's only right for them to go. They won't come back until next Sunday, and they leave next Tuesday. Apparently they live a considerable amount of hours away from here. I was a little bummed that he wouldn't get to come, but I wasn't extremely upset. Family comes first, always, even though he really doesn't want to go. He was complaining about how bored he would probably be, and the fact that he doesn't really know this person too well because they're a distant relative doesn't make him any more excited. Supposedly, this isn't the first time something like this has happened and he didn't want to go.
