Falling

Chapter 23

The two on the couch stood and expected an explanation from Sam of her whereabouts. Alex quickly went to Skylar's side and started making quick work on getting handcuffs on her but Skylar retaliated.

"Skylar Atkins. You are under arrest by the DEO." Lena and Kara looked confusedly at her.

"What? I didn't even do anything." Skylar could easily get out of her handcuffs but she had a part to play.

Alex didn't say anything and started to drag her out but was stopped by Kara.

"Alex, what's going on?" Kara asked as two DEO agents entered the room. Skylar looked to Ruby who was trying to make her way in but was stopped by Sam.

Alex sighed and handed Skylar over to the two agents who escorted her out of the office. Skylar knew that the best course of action was to comply.

Once the room was cleared, Kara and Lena looked at the older Danvers expectantly but Sam had beaten her to it.

"Alex informed me that Skylar was working with Lex."

The room stilled. Kara and Lena were shocked for say the least.

"No! Skylar won't work for him! She never would. She's not a bad guy!" Ruby exploded in anger as she saw her favourite person get dragged out in handcuffs.

"Ruby, she's working with Lex. We have video evidence." Sam said, reaching for Ruby but the girl merely backed away from her and went to Kara's side.

"Wait, how do we know that she is actually working for him? What if the video was edited like with me and the kryptonite." Lena countered.

"Always about you." Sam muttered so quietly but Kara glared at her.

"Because who the fuck would make time out of their day and visit Lex?! We have the logs! The prison guard escorted her to his cell! She is making something dangerous in her labs!" Alex retorted, trying to make them believe that Skylar isn't who she says.

"Fine. Just go and interrogate her." Kara said dismissively and Lena looked at her in disbelief. While Sam and Alex went out, Kara was trying to get Ruby to stay with her mom.

"Do you believe them? That Skylar would actually do this? We already have her word." Lena asked Kara.

"I don't but we should hear what she has to say. There's always two sides to every story. Go with Alex, I'll meet you after." Kara said, gesturing to the twelve year old and with that Lena left.

"I wanna go too! I want to see Sky." Ruby pleaded as Sam entered.

"You need to be with your mom, Rubes. It's an adult thing, no teenagers allowed. But I'll see what I can do with the visiting." Kara compromised and Ruby nodded before standing next to Sam.

The car ride with Alex was uncomfortable, to say the least. It's not everyday you get to share a car with you girlfriend's mistress. Reaching, Lena couldn't help but slam the car door. It could be stress from the situation or it could be because of Alex. Yeah, definitely both.

Lena stalked into the DEO and Alex quickly caught up with her.

"We're keeping her in the cell at the training room. It seemed more convenient." Alex informed and Lena changed her course of direction.

"Wait, Lena. This....isn't going to be a problem right?" Alex asked, nervously playing with her fingers.

"It won't if you don't make it personal." Lena deadpanned and entered, seeing Skylar with handcuffs boringly staring into space. Lena noticed her smile when she saw her entering.
