"where are we going? why did i need to pack? did i pack what i needed?" el kept asking the entire way of the car ride as mike kept one hand over thigh the entire time.

he let out a small chuckle as he made a turn. "el, we are almost there. patience."

she let out a groan. "but i want to know! even my dad wouldn't tell me... we literally left hawkins, mike."

he smiled wider and took another turn. "a few more minutes. any guesses?"

she hummed, tapping her chin gently. "the beach? shopping? i don't know, mike,"

he grinned. "even better,"

she pouted a little before she let out a chocking cough. reaching into the glove box, she took out some napkins and coughed into it.

"do you want me to roll down a window?"

"no... don't baby me," she murmured quietly and he gave a small nod as his smile dropped a little. "just let me know if you need anything to make you feel better,"

she gave a small nod as she turned to face the window, rolling it down as she inhaled a deep breath, trying to breathe better.

without a word, mike moved his water bottle to the cup holder on her side, where he packed an ice water so she wouldn't overheat.

she glanced over with a small smile and took a sip out of the bottle, feeling a little better.

she stayed quiet for a few minutes, suddenly losing energy till she felt the car come to a stop.

trying to straighten up, she looked around but only saw trees.

he grinned wider, looking over at her before reaching over to hold her hand. "where do you think we are?"

"a forest,"

a chuckle and snicker escaped him. "no, sad girl. look forward, closer."

she peered forward and gasped quietly. "disneyland?" she looked over at mike. "you remembered i wanted to go?"

"of course i did. i remembered all the things you wanted to do," he gave a small smile. "and guess what,"

she blinked, "what?"

"we're going to stay the night in the disneyland hotel,"

she paused for a moment, letting the information sink in before she broke into the widest smile.

instantly, she jumped forward and wrapped her hands around his neck, hugging him tightly. "mike..."

"are you... happy about it?"

"of course!" she exclaimed and giggled right into his cheek when she was about to give him a kiss.

she pulled back till their faces touched before kissing his lips. "mike," she murmured as he hummed.

"everything you've done for me... you've stuck by me all this time," she said quietly as her hands tangled into his curls, playing with the ends gently. "i love you,"

she then kissed the corner of his lips. "i love everything about you," she said to him, "everything you've done for me and just... you,"

"sad girl," he breathed out, eyes closing with a growing smile. "i love you too,"

her smile grew so wide that a giggle erupted from her lips.

she then pulled back and connected their hands. "i'm really excited, mike. thank you for this,"

"you're welcome, el," he lifted their connected hands and kissed the back of her hand. "anything for you, sad girl,"
