he knocked gently on her bedroom door that was open to a small gap. "el, it's me,"

"come in," she spoke quietly before he pushed the creaking door open and found her sitting on her bed.

she was crisscrossed with a bunny plush on her lap and cosmo resting on her right. she had on a beanie to cover up her thinning hair and she made sure her sleeves were covering her arms.

looking up slowly, she have a gentle smile and pushed away the book that she was reading. "hey,"

he shut the door and kicked off his shoes before joining her on the bed.

she made space for him and pulled cosmo to her lap by placing her toy bunny on his lap instead.

"hey, this guy again," he grinned down at the plush. "this one is my fav,"

a gentle smile escaped her. "mine too..." she looked down at cosmo to give him a pet before looking back up, "what did you want to talk about?"

"i wanted to talk about what happened the other day. when i was in the hospital... what i did was wrong and— and i wanted to explain. i don't want you to feel like— feel like you don't matter,"

"i just don't get why you didn't tell me," she let out so quietly that her voice cracked, hurt lacing her tongue. "i don't get it,"

"i know this sounds stupid but— you're already going through so much and i didn't want to dump all my problems onto you. i didn't want it affecting you too,"

"i rather have someone relate to me, mike. you know that. it's how we met," a small, hurtful laugh escaped her. "i don't care about the amount of problems you dump all me. i felt that you didn't trust me enough to even tell me. like you had to hide everything when i trust you so much to tell you instead. the trust felt like it was one-way. like you were distancing from me... hiding things from me on purpose,"

his frown deepened by each word because he didn't know exactly how it affected el.

he did want to tell her everything. all of his problems.

but he didn't want to distract her when she was going through so much.

"i didn't know it would make you feel that way, im so sorry. i genuinely thought it would help you. you were—are—sick and— i don't know, i was scared it would trigger you,"

"if you trigger me, we wouldn't even be here right now. don't you remember how we met?"

"of course i do,"

"we were spilling problems on the first day! mike, you won't ever burden me,"

"i know that now..." he looked up and reached out to touch her cheek. "i'm sorry, el. i hurt you more than i could imagine,"
