el sat on the bleachers, her black bag on her lap with her connected hands rested on top.
she inhaled a deep breath, watching mike in the tryouts as she sat alone.
in a way, she hoped no one would sit next to her.
a small smile left her lips when she watched mike score a three pointer, however, she was too tired to clap.
slowly, she moved to grab her fluffy jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
a few minutes later, mike jogged over to her and instantly pressed a kiss to her lips, "hey,"
she smiled softly at him. "hi there,"
"it's almost over, baby. just hold on," he fixed her jacket. "are you really cold?"
her head shook and she puckered her lips to give him another kiss. "no, i'm okay. i can wait,"
he nodded, gently cupping her face which made her cheeks heat up. "go back, sad boy. finish your tryout,"
he nodded and moved quickly to kiss her cheek before running back out to the court.
her smile never faltered when she watched him.
he was truly the best thing that could happen to her.
the first thing mike did when he finished was to come back over to her and hold her hand. "come on, sad girl," he used his other hand to reach for her bag, holding it for her instantly.
"you wanna get changed first?" she asked as he assisted her with stepping down from the bleachers.
he paused in his footsteps and groaned. "fuck, i forgot. i just wanted to get outta here with you. okay, wait here, i'll be super super quick," he kissed her forehead twice and she nodded. "okay,"
she stayed put once they left the gymnasium. "i'll stay here,"
he grinned and placed her bag on the floor before rushing to the changing room.
she leaned against a wall, putting her weight back to make herself less tired.
blinking tiredly, she began to think.
to be fair, most of her bucket list has been competed.
she has most of her firsts. except...
she sighed deeply. she didn't care about that.
she wished she could go on holiday with her dad, though. however, she was out of time. they could never go to italy.
she looked down, playing with her fingers before she tucked her sleeves further down to cover her scars.
don't let mike know, don't let him know.
little did she know, he was hiding the exact same thing.
if only they communicated...
*.✧.*
mike arrived home a little before midnight.
he may have stayed in the park by himself since el had to go home by 8. he, on the other hand, didn't want to go home just yet.
once he closed the front door, holly rushed down the stairs and held his hand.
his brows furrowed when his little sister dragged him upstairs, "holly—"
"shh,"
"michael, is that you? get in here," karen's voice echoed through the room.
