Chapter Sixteen

Olivia and Leon walked through the doors and into the lab.

"Welcome to NEST. Enjoy your visit"

"Like hell I will" Olivia mumbled and it made Leon chuckle. They walked further into the reception, looking around.

"Dr. Li, your presence is urgently requested by Chief Cartwright in the East Area"

Firstly, they went to the Security Room and found shotgun shells and a map of the North Area.

They then walked into the cafeteria and saw there were many zombies in it. There was one in front of the door, two munching on other bodies and some others on the right side of the room. 

Whilst they fought off zombies, there was a voice through the speakers again "Our menu is designed for your nutritional needs using our latest biological research. Please enjoy our tasty selection of healthy foods"

"Food does sound good right now," Olivia told Leon.

He agreed, putting his last shot in a zombie's head "Last thing we ate was half of the granola bar"

"It was so good though" Olivia replied. The whole room was cleared of zombies so we climbed up the ladder leading to the vents and into a kitchen. Olivia collected some gunpowder and a knife. 

They left the kitchen and got to a hallway finding a couple of zombies. One latched onto me so Olivia stuck a flash grenade into its mouth.

"Leon, cover!" she yelled and Leon obliged, putting hands on his ears and closing his eyes, turning away from the flash. 

They walked into the next room, finding an electronic clip on a zombie's hand, sticking out of one of the pods. Olivia combined it with the wristband.

They walked through the reception and Olivia placed her hand on the machine, opening the path to the Main Shaft whilst Leon found a Special Forces Recording on a dead man's body and listened to it. 

"The G-virus in the West Area," Leon told Olivia and walked towards the Main Shaft. Olivia opened up the path to the East Area and as they walked through the doors, there were things in front of the door to the right so they went forward, into a lobby, finding a green herb.

They then walked through the door and saw someone attached to the window by vines. "Jesus... what happened here?" Leon questioned rhetorically.

We walked past it to another door but the door jammed a bit as vines were blocking it so Leon cut the vine so the door could open fully into the Presentation Room which was overgrown with greenery. 

"It looks beautiful in its own way" Olivia stated.

Leon smirked, "You like this?"

"I like nature" She replied.

"Noted" 

Just then, the two saw a being stuck in the vines. It wasn't a human or a zombie... it was a plant being. "Well, another enemy" Leon commented.

"Something new" Olivia responded and grabbed the gunpowder she found on one of the tables.

"What the fuck is that?" Leon muttered which made Olivia look at what he was seeing. She looked behind and it was an overgrown creature walking towards them. It had vines hanging off of its skin and it was screeching. 

Olivia shot at it and it moved faster. "Why the hell is it moving faster?!"

Eventually, she shot the creature down and they both looked down at it. "It's so... ugly" Leon said and it made Olivia laugh.

He was glad everything between them was back to normal again and Olivia wasn't ignoring him. He liked making her smile and laugh.

"Let's go" Olivia said which took Leon out of his trance. They walked through a door and Olivia pressed a button.

"Dispensing solution now"

Liquid poured out of the ceiling and then a tube popped out. A dispersal Cartridge. Olivia grabbed it and Leon took her hand as they walked into the Greenhouse. They found a code to the system in the Greenhouse Control Room. They walked back to the room and entered the code which opened up the ladder.

However, before they went down, they explored the drug testing lab. There was a note which gave instructions on how to plant 43 Herbicide Synthesis

"Easy enough," Olivia said sarcastically.

Leon found a ripped-up code and cursed to himself "Fuck" He then found a grenade on another dead man's body. 

Olivia sighed "Well, let's go down the ladder"

And they did. They went down to a hallway where they found more gunpowder and an East Area Map. They walked further into the Lounge, heavily aware of the many dead bodies which could get up at any time.

"Stay close" Leon muttered to Olivia and she nodded, placing her hand into his.

They found a trophy and a green herb. When they walked out of the Lounge, one of the zombies got up so they sped up but got stopped when a licker got in their way. Olivia and Leon jumped at the sight.

"They're here too?!" Leon exclaimed, getting out his shotgun and shooting at the licker until it eventually got killed.

As there were a lot of zombies coming their way, they turned and ran toward the stairwell, going up the stairs. As they were going up, a zombie fell from the top which made them both jump again.

"I swear to God I'm going to cry if I get jump scared again" Olivia mumbled. She kept following behind Leon, feeling safe in the comfort of his hand.

"You're safe with me" Leon replied.

"I know," Olivia said and rubbed her thumb across his hand. They got into a storage room and found more ammo, and gunpowder around the place and a signal modulator. 

Leon and Olivia went back to the North Area to get to the Nap Room where Leon tuned the modulator to the correct letters - MUF. When he did, the pods opened and a hip pouch was revealed.

"Yes!!" Olivia exclaimed "My baby!"

Leon chuckled at her silliness "You're so cute"

"What?" Olivia questioned, shocked she was called cute. She then smiled with a slight blush "Did you just call me cute?"

Leon smiled, pulling her into his chest. He gave her a forehead kiss. He then saw the zombie behind them standing up so he got out his MAG, exploding a zombie's head off in one shot.

Olivia and Leon laughed before Leon gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
