"You'll be able to find your mate next year, are you excited?" Ryder asks Maddox.
The smile that showed both rows of his bright white teeth made Ryder laugh at his best friend. "You think she's here?"
"Most definitely not." Maddox responds immediately. "Not even close by."
"You sound so sure about that."
Maddox simply nodded, the big smile never leaving his face. He couldn't wait for it to be his turn. He had seen how happy having your mate around had made people, and it only fueled his excitement.
Was he in a rush? Of course not. Not because he wasn't ready, but because he knew it wasn't their time yet. The Moon Goddess had said that they would meet when they were supposed to, and that made being patient tolerable.
"Your mom has been watching us since we stepped outside." Maddox's expression fell quickly at Ryder's words.
With an annoyed sigh, Maddox says. "I know. I'm pretty sure she thinks I'll snap at any moment and kill everyone. Why? Don't know, don't care."
"Watch this." He adds before turning to the upstairs window, staring directly at his mother.
All Maddox had to do was slightly squint at her and she hurriedly shut the blinds and moved away. Both boys howled with laughter at this.
"It's like she's scared to have me around, but when I'm not she can't keep an eye on me. So she does that." Maddox says, shaking his head. "Something is really wrong with that lady."
.....
There would be no work getting done and Maddox knew that. Amora had managed to take over his every thought without even trying. He couldn't help but notice how different she was to many of the females in the pack.
When he had filled her closet with new clothes she insisted that he take everything back, but when she stepped into the greenhouse and saw the things he had bought while in town, a smile that would forever be etched into his brain played on her face. Seeing the way her eyes lit up at the tiny fruit trees and large empty planters had satisfied something deep within him.
Quickly putting away everything that lay on his desk, Maddox made his way through the pack house to the greenhouse.
Maddox could hear her humming a slow tune before he had fully opened the door. He could see that she had already managed to do so much in the last forty-eight hours. "You're good with your hands I see."
Though parts of her face and the front of her shirt and jeans were covered with dirt, she looked absolutely content. "Hey, is it that late?" She asks.
"No, it's not even the afternoon yet. I just wanted to see how you were spending your day." Maddox says, making his way towards her.
Standing with a smile on her face before saying, "If you missed me and wanted to see me that's all you had to say."
Maddox looked at her with red cheeks sending her into a fit of laughter. "Aren't you supposed to be working mr. alpha? Is everything okay?" She asks, quickly sobering up.
"Yes, everything is fine." He says.
The smile immediately returned to her face as she went back to her plants. "So what's up?" She asks.
Maddox couldn't help but to stare at her. She had a different aura surrounding her, it made him feel like he absolutely had to be next to her, the attraction was already strong but stopping himself from plopping down next to her was impossible.
