The rain pounding on the roof made Amora feel as if she were stuck in a trance.

Even though she couldn't see anyone, she knew she wasn't alone.

She would usually be sitting in the dark simmering in her anger, but in that moment she felt like nothing could upset her. She knew it was due to the strange presence looming over her, because even the nonstop shuffling outside her room wasn't annoying her.

Amora had been losing hope that she would ever feel anything close to serenity. She had begun to feel as if she would be trapped for the rest of her life, and as each day passed a piece of her seemed to chip away. Being only thirteen, she knew she wasn't supposed to feel that way, but she could literally feel the energy being drained out of her.

Not being able to see and talk to anyone hadn't really bothered her until she couldn't talk to her wolf. She knew she was there, they just weren't able to communicate like they had before. And it was starting to weigh heavily on her, mentally and emotionally.

She had been alone before, but now she was alone in every way possible. They had taken everything from her, she was done.

But whatever or whoever it was, Amora was grateful for it. Each minute that she sat in peace, she knew she was slowly getting a better hold of her sanity.

At that moment she knew the day would come when none of this mattered anymore, and if it promised her that same bubble of bliss she would surely fight for it.

......

Amora watched everyone in the room as they discussed pack matters.

Maddox had asked her multiple different times if she wanted to join, but she had declined. Then she decided that she would show up just to observe, see how they all acted around one another when she wasn't there.

She had been there for almost three hours when Maddox dismissed everyone.

Maddox didn't move as everyone else rushed away to get food. "You can never call me a weirdo again." He says when the door shuts behind the last person with a smile on his face.

"How did you know?" She asks after revealing herself to him.

He had known she was there the whole time. "I just knew."

Amora looked at Maddox intensely with squinted eyes. "Don't do that. You said you didn't want to come but then I feel you roaming around." He says with a grin.

"I just want to see you."

His face scrunched up with confusion, "What? You saw me this morning, you see me everyday."

Amora shook her head at him, laughing lightly. "No, I want to see you. As in, who are you? What type of person are you? I want to know Maddox Middleton, the man, the alpha, not just as my mate. Without me having to press you with questions, who exactly are you when I'm not around?"

Maddox leaned back in his chair thinking over the things that she said. "You have the ability to read minds, but yet you took hours out of your day to observe me. I honestly would've preferred if you simply asked me. I mean, everything just rolled off of me because I knew you were here, no matter how annoyed I ever get, I know that I'll feel better with you near me."

Feeling the need to be closer to him, touching him was becoming harder by the days for Amora. Her sliding off his desk and onto his lap had stunned Maddox. Him and his pretty words would get him far, but she knew some way that whatever he said, he could actually show her with his actions that he meant it.

He had known that it would take some time for Amora, but he was wearing her down and he knew it.

"I'm an open book sweetheart, I don't want you to ever feel like you can't ask or come to me with anything. I know earning your trust will take some time, I don't mind."
