“How have things been?” Mason asks as Amora handed him a cup of tea.
Thankfully she was able to hide her smile behind her cup before saying, “Great! But my wolf still isn’t too happy with Maddox.”
“And she has the right. Didn’t I say that you were being too nice about it?” Amora rolled her eyes while nodding her head yes. “You and your wolf seem to be on opposite sides of the world, but in some weird way it works and you're perfect together.”
She had to laugh because she always thought that. “This time it’s different though. I’m usually the one questioning everything while she’s ready to lay at his feet.”
“Seems like he’s kissing at yours with this set up that he’s got going.” They both slowly looked around the greenhouse at all the changes that Maddox had started to make.
A small silver table set fit perfectly in one corner. The eco-friendly string lights that hung from the ceiling added a beautiful hue to the now brightly lit greenhouse. He had started to build something in another corner that she couldn’t wait to see finished.
“How the hell does he have time to do any of this and still do his daily rounds?” Mason asks himself out loud.
Amora simply shrugged her shoulders as she let out a very pleased sigh. “And you’re just eating this up, you love sick pup!” He laughs, very amused by the dreamy look resting on her face.
She quickly snapped out of it and moved so her curls covered her heated cheeks. “You’re blushing!”
Mason had truly been enjoying his time with Amora, just as she had with him, and as Maddox entered he turned and sent a smirk his son's way.
“Hey sweetheart.” Maddox says after placing a gentle kiss on Amora’s forehead. “What are you smirking for, old man?” He asks, while looking at his father weirdly.
“Ohh, nothing. Just admiring the hard work that you put in for your mate is all.” He responds. “I’ll leave you two alone. Still meeting me at the training field, yes?” He asks Amora.
Maddox saw her nod and waited until his father left to turn to her. “Training field?”
He could see the excitement in her eyes before she even opened her mouth to respond. “Yes! He got something made for me!”
“Something that requires you to meet him there? Surely it isn’t a weapon right?”
A frown immediately fell on her face. “Yes, Maddox. It is a weapon. Hand made in the forge on your territory that you didn’t tell me about.”
“I didn’t think you cared about that stuff!”
“You never gave me the chance, there’s layers to me baby. I’m complex.” Maddox looked at her for a few seconds before bursting out with laughter.
She tried to keep a straight face, but she couldn’t. “You definitely are sweetheart. Do you like it so far?”
He relaxed as she nodded her head yes with a big smile. “I love it! What is that going to be?” She asks, pointing to the intricately carved pieces of wood.
Maddox simply smiled and shook his head. “You’ll see when it’s done! And I may have something in mind for the things that you want to grow that need heat.”
The amazed look on Amora’s face made him feel so satisfied with himself. “I’ll get my peach trees?”
Amora let out a squeal at him nodding yes before wrapping her arms around his neck. “You’re choking me baby.” Maddox coughed out.
