Amora stood nervously in front of Maddox shifting from foot to foot. She had walked with him all the way to his office without even realizing it.

“Are you busy tonight?” She asks quietly, finally building up the nerve to say it.

A smirk instantly fell on his lips. “Are you asking me out?”

“Depends. Are you going to say no?” Maddox laughed while shaking his head no. “Then I’ll be back around seven.” She says before he pulls her in for a kiss.

With his fingers buried deep in her thick gray curls, he held her close to him as he placed a sweet sensual kiss on her lips. “And I’ll be ready.”

Amora gave him a small wave as he backed into his office, the smirk still resting on his lips.

The shaky sigh she released after he closed his door took something out of her. The things that she had felt the night before still had her a bit raddled.

Maddox had a feeling that he knew what was happening to her, and considering that his wolf had been on edge since the club he knew that they would have to talk sooner rather than later.

He wouldn’t allow his mothers presence to change his good mood. She sat with her legs crossed and arms folded, looking as if she were ready to scold him. “Good afternoon, what did I do to deserve a visit from you?”

“Your father,” Sandra started before being cut off.

“Isn’t here at the moment as you can see. Maybe you should sniff him out, he’s never too far away.” Maddox interrupts as he opens the door. “I opened it for you so you could walk through it. You're welcome.”

Why she had actually shown up thinking that he wanted to talk to her was beyond him. It tended to end with arguing whenever they were in the same room. “Do you think that he’d still look at you the way he does, talk to you with the utmost respect, tend to you in the most loving way if I were to tell him what I really wanted to.”

“But the truth always finds a way out. Whether it be by force or willingly. My mate, the one you live to talk down to, waiting for her to come to me has taught me a different type of patience. He’ll learn of the type of person you are when it’s time.” Maddox watched as she rose to her feet and slowly made her way to the door.

Once Sandra had crossed the threshold she turned to say something to Maddox, but he had already closed the door.

Maddox knew that he had addressed what she came for because she actually left. He had been able to get rid of her without upsetting himself and that alone made him smile with delight.

……..

Amora had to hide her smile as she saw the red spread across Maddox’s cheeks as he took a seat next to her on the thick blanket. “I made steak, chicken, and shrimp kebabs, Italian subs, and chili. They don’t necessarily go together, but your father wouldn’t leave until I let him take something.”

“You did all of this for little ole me?” He asks before leaning over to give her a kiss.

“No dessert until after you eat some real food.” She says while wiping the lipgloss off of his lips.

Maddox took his time observing the greenhouse as Amora continued to pull things out of a large basket. The plush blanket they sat on had been placed next to the hammock, both sitting between a bed of flowers, all being surrounded by colorful artificial teacup candles.

The only thing that he was truly curious about was how she managed to move the hammock by herself. “Did you do that?”

She shook her head no as she rolled her eyes. “Your dad, once again. He felt bad that he ignored me when I insisted that he fight me, so when he came around before taking my food, he had the twins move it for me.”
