Amora loved that Danielle didn’t seem to be frightened by her. She just wished that it was under different circumstances.
“Just wanted to stop by and see where the witch plays all day.” Amora could see her motive very clearly. It was to simply piss her off.
Completely ignoring her words, Amora says “I can heal, hurt, or hinder. I’m a lady of many talents, how can I be of service to you?”
“Oh! It’s not what you can do for me, It’s what I won’t let you do to Maddox.”
With a tilted head, she responds, “Okay. So should I grab a pen and some paper so you, even though you haven't met yours, can tell me what I can and can’t do with my mate?”
“You don’t get it do you? Everyone here walks on eggshells around you for a reason. Hell, you even have his simple minded mother acting crazier than usual.”
Amora shook her head before saying, “Whatever lies she’s cooked up for you all to eat so blindly, is on you. I gave no one a reason to see me as a threat.”
“Sandra says she knows your family, and with their usage of dark magic, she’s convinced that you’ve put something on Maddox to make him believe that you two are mates.” Amora couldn’t help but to burst out with laughter.
“And I was on the fence about that one. Until I stumbled upon some knowledge of my own. I kept asking myself why wouldn’t Maddox just confront you, but then I realized that you haven’t been marked yet either.”
At this point Amora was ready to walk away, but Danielle’s words made her stop. “He hasn’t marked you because he doesn’t want you. And he hasn’t kicked you out of our home because he’s scared. Whatever demon you pray to, Maddox saw it roaming in his bedroom and went straight for you. Did you not find his clinginess strange?”
Amora wouldn’t give Danielle the satisfaction of knowing that her words did upset her. Best bet was to just laugh it off. “You’re as crazy as his mother! I honestly think it’s quite pathetic the way you're grasping at straws. I mean no harm to Maddox nor his people, it’s just sad that your lust for my mate won’t allow you to see that.”
Danielle went to say something else, but Amora stopped her. “As much as I’ve enjoyed our little girl's chat, Maddox is on his way. And what exactly would the girl that’s obsessed with him tell him that’ll make him turn on his mate? If I’m upset, he’ll be raging.”
Amora slowly made her way over and opened the door for her. “Take this as a warning. The torch you carry for Maddox is cute, but it can easily be blown out.”
Though the girl had severely pissed her off, she apparently had bigger things to be concerned about.
Not even a minute later Maddox was walking through the door, only to be faced with Amora’s back. “Is it true?” She asks without turning to him.
“Is what true?”
“Are you afraid of me Maddox?” He could tell that she was upset, and it truly confused him. “Does the little troubled witch scare you? Huh Maddox?”
Amora liked to mind her own business. She never liked to ask questions, only because the answers she received were never good. The bubble of peace that she had formed around herself could be popped with a single word, and expecting the worst had become something she had grown used to.
“What are you even talking about?” He says turning her to him. “No! Look at me and tell me why you think I would be scared of my own mate?”
