Amora laid on the cold table staring up at the ceiling, listening to her parents argue.

"That thing called you out by name. Two years and you still don't have any answers for me! You didn't see how strong it was, how fast it was! It wants something here and it's using her to get to it. I honestly don't know why I keep you around if you never know shit!" Damon yells at Alita.

She was trying to make sense of what her father was talking about. Amora couldn't do anything except lay there as stiff as a board, growing even more confused as her mother yelled back.

Alita picked up the closest thing to her, which was a tray of medical tools and threw it at him. "Don't put this on me! Whatever it was, it clearly feeds off of anger and since you like to keep her locked up and play doctor whenever you want, you're the one who caused this. They told me how it toyed with everyone else, but it wanted you! I should've let it kill you bitch!"

......

Maddox loved that he could comfort Amora just as she had done for him. She wasn't used to anybody trying to take care of her and he could see that.

The two sat in a comfortable silence, Maddox watched her eat the vegetable soup with a million different thoughts running through his mind before saying, "Since you've been here I've felt different."

"Different as in?" She responded.

"I mean, ever since we made physical contact in human form I've been able to feel what others feel, more specifically you. Example, when my mother yelled and tried to approach me, I felt your anger inside me."

Even though she had her eyes focused on the bowl of soup, Maddox could tell that she was just as confused as he was.

"I'm sorry." Amora whispers to him.

"No no no. It's not a bad thing, it just made it so much easier for me to read you." Maddox responds immediately. "I know when you're happy, sad, mad, nervous, or annoyed."

Amora glanced over at him to see a giant smile playing on his lips. The butterflies were going crazy inside her at the sight.

"I don't have much here, so I planned to go into town tomorrow for food."

"Into town?" She asks with a tilted head.

Seeing him nod his head she added, "Do you not grow food in the greenhouse?"

"It's harder to maintain it around this time of year with snowstorms happening unexpectedly."

"Can I work on it?"

Maddox was slightly surprised by her question, but he would never tell her no. With the skeptical look on her face, she actually thought that he would. "Everything that we were growing we can get at one of the markets tomorrow, but If that's what you want, sure."

Shaking her head at him, "Do you know how much you could save?"

"Are you a penny pincher Amora?" Maddox asks with a grin on his face.

Looking at him with a blank expression, she says, "Shut up."

Maddox couldn't help the laughter that escaped him as he watched her take her bowl to the sink. "Did you eat all of it?" Seeing her nod her head yes he continued. "I'm sure you're tired, go up to bed."

Amora didn't even try to put up a fight this time. After sleeping in a cave and then coming back to problems, she was absolutely exhausted. Saying a quiet goodnight, she made her way to her room.

After a while, Amora found herself looking up at the ceiling with wide eyes. She couldn't get Maddox out of her mind. She had to be thankful for her darker skin, he would never be able to tell how he constantly made her blush.
