“I don’t know, I didn’t expect it to work so fast. And to be honest, I wasn’t sure of what I was going to do after I made the potion.”
Her words did little to settle his nerves, but he tried to shake it off anyways. “Well, whatever happens I guess we’re in it together. So am I going to see dead people?”
Amora giggled as she shook her head. “I think it’ll be fine. Give me your hands.”
Doing as she said, Maddox watched as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Glancing around the room he noticed that nothing was happening. He couldn’t hear or see anything that was out of the ordinary.
He waited until Amora looked at him before asking, “Was something supposed to happen?”
“Maybe I didn’t do the potion right.”
“Hmm.” After waiting for a few more minutes, Maddox decided that he would quickly get ready for bed.
When he returned he could see the confusion on Amora’s face as she sat in the middle of their bed. She had definitely done something because he knew that the lights weren’t supposed to do that.
“You’ll get a headache from thinking too hard. Just sleep on it and we’ll go over everything that you did tomorrow, yea?” He says as he pulls her into his chest before laying down.
“Why do you always say ‘we? I can do things on my own, you know.” She says while looking up at him.
“I don’t like seeing you stress for one, so feeling how anxious you get only makes me want to be more involved. Your troubles are my troubles.”
Amora hated that she still got nervous to initiate any type of intimacy first. She had her moments when she couldn’t help herself, but most times he had to make the first move. She knew he deserved more, but her insecurities about never being enough was something she had yet to get over.
Her eyes shut and she practically purred as he buried his hand in her hair and massaged her scalp. “Clear your mind and just relax.” Sleep took her shortly after he spoke.
……….
“What the hell?” Amora whispers as she looks around the very bright sunroom.
Considering that she had fallen asleep next to Maddox, she was confused. Had he moved her again? She asked herself.
“Umm.” Amora hears from behind her. “What is this?”
Amora was still looking around when her eyes landed on Maddox. He too was awed by the beautifully lit room as he moved towards her.
A door swung open and Amora immediately stepped in front of Maddox.
“I’ve been waiting for you, I’m so excited! Come sit.” The woman gestured to the loveseat behind them.
As Amora settled in Maddox’s arms, the woman smiled brightly at the two. Considering that she looked like an older version of Amora, neither knew what was going on.
Amora being the first to speak between the two, “Are you me from the future?”
Her words made the woman chuckle. Maddox couldn’t stop himself from comparing the two. How they both moved gracefully as if they were floating, when they both sat down they used their right hand to brush the curls from their eyesight, and their eyes being more expressive than their actual facial expression.
