“I didn’t think you’d be so excited about going out.” Maddox says as Amora bounced in her seat.
“It’s stupid I know, but I’ve never been somewhere with the intention of actually having fun.” She responds while settling down. “Are you sure your friends are okay with me coming along?”
Maddox looked over at her quickly before focusing on the road again. “You’ve asked me that so many times and the answer is still the same sweetheart.”
“I admit, I do talk about you a lot and they probably would’ve drove up the mountain if I didn’t bring you down. I’m sure they thought I wasn’t even into women.”
Amora laughed loudly before asking, “Why would they think that?”
“I always liked to go out with them, but I was never big on socializing with women outside of our group. I didn’t even like being left alone with them. Some humans can get vicious when they want something they can’t have. Especially when alcohol is involved.”
“So no fun, I’m just here to be your bodyguard? Well this blows.” She says while sinking into the seat. “I’m sorry. I asked, you answered and that’s not how I should’ve responded. This isn’t about me, it’s about you.”
Maddox could feel her immediate regret as he waved her off. “Know that I don’t plan to bite, but my wolf?”
“You don’t plan to?” He asks.
“No, I don’t plan to, but I’m not opposed to the idea.” Grabbing her hand and locking their fingers together, Maddox placed a lingering kiss to the back of her hand with a smirk playing on his lips.
He wouldn’t say anything because she’d just deny it, but her jealousy spoke so loudly and he would never get enough of it.
The way she cut her eyes at him told him that she already knew what he was thinking. “Do you own the place that we’re going to as well?”
“I guess you’re his new best friend. What hasn’t the old man told you?” Maddox asks, making her roll her eyes.
“I doubt you’ll have to worry about that much whenever your mom returns.”
He didn’t even want to think about that. Things had been fairly quiet since she went to visit her parents. Besides him still waiting for Amora to tell him about Danielle and Ryder, things were more than fine.
“Don’t speak that into existence right now.” He says after shushing her. “And no, it’s not one of ours. One of their friends is having his grand opening for his own club tonight.”
“Is he not your friend?” Maddox snorted with laughter before responding.
“I can’t consider a man who gets jealous over another man's success a friend. It’s truly sad to see someone trying to compete with you when you only want to see everyone around you win. Him making sure they invited me just doesn’t feel right to me.” He says with a shake of his head.
Amora let out a long hum as she squeezed his hand. “You want me to beat him up? Because I will!”
Maddox laughed loudly before pulling her to him and giving her a quick kiss. “You're laughing and I’m serious.” She adds.
“No baby. Someone like that doesn’t deserve to be acknowledged by you. You came to have a good time, and I’m here to make sure that you do.”
Maddox held her hand tightly as the car fell quiet. It took them some time to get there because of where his territory was, even then he still hadn’t moved any faster. Of course he was ready to see his friends, but he didn’t like to pretend to be happy about being somewhere he didn’t want to be.
