“Your mother just wants to talk to you Maddox.” Mason says.

Danny pushed Maddox seeing that he wasn’t going to respond to his father.

Rolling his eyes before sighing and saying, “No thanks old man.”

“I don’t like this just as much as you son. But you have to understand that your mother is scared for you.”

Maddox’s immediate reaction was to laugh. He couldn’t believe the nonsense his father had actually called him with.

“Scared for me? Don’t you mean scared of me? Look, I get that you want to stand by your mate, no matter how ridiculous the decisions are. Which I get, but tell her if she doesn’t want me around, stop calling Danny to know my every move. It’s none of her business.” He responds to his father.

He knew he would have to return home eventually, but being away from his mother had changed his mood tremendously.

Obviously he was still annoyed because she had Danny watching him, but the difference between the two is that Danny didn’t make him feel like something was wrong with him.

“I’ve got to get back to work. Love you old man.” Maddox says before leaving his dad and Danny to talk.

….

Maddox watched as the figure touched Amora and then disappeared. And as soon as it vanished he was able to move once more.

He immediately jumped up and pulled Amora to his chest. He could see her chest still moving up and down at a steady rate.

Amora opened her eyes at being grabbed. The panic she saw on his face confused her as she asked, “Are you okay?”

“Are you okay?” He shot back.

His pale skin made her sit up to scan the room before turning towards him. “Did something happen? Are you hurt?” She asks as anxiety fills her.

Maddox couldn’t form a proper sentence as he ran his hand over the spot on her arm where the dark figure had touched her. There was nothing there that he could see, and she didn’t flinch when he applied a small amount of pressure to it.

His head had begun to hurt from trying to make sense of what he saw, but nothing logical came to mind.

“Come on.” Maddox says while pulling the blanket off of her. “You haven’t eaten and I let it slip my mind. So I can make us some dinner and you show me how to make that special tea of yours, yea?”

Amora knew that food was most certainly not why Maddox woke her up, but how he avoided her questions made sure she didn’t push him. He would tell her whenever he felt it was right.

With her wolf being absent, he didn’t want her to worry herself with anything else. Which is exactly why he didn’t say anything.

His mother could break anyone without much effort, all except for his father. Good thing because his father was the only person he knew he could trust whenever it involved Amora.

Maddox wasn’t sure if Mason could actually help him figure things out, but simply talking about it would definitely help.

After deciding that they would have some breakfast for dinner, Amora began to explain and show Maddox how to make her special tea.

“Did you teach yourself how to make this?” Maddox asks as he takes a small sip.

“I did. A whole lot of trial and error until I got it right.”
