Taking a deep breath, Amora exhaled with temporary contentment.

She had been laying in the field of sunflowers for hours, savoring every moment of the summer sun before another harsh winter came and killed everything in its path.

This was the only time that Amora had alone. Even her wolf had gone silent, and she never shuts up, but she knew that even though they had been locked away for so long Amora grew very irritated if she didn't get her time.

And on top of staying hidden from her parents, she had Jade and Vaya on her back about her powers.

She of course wanted to be able to control them, but hell, she had missed the majority of her childhood and she just wanted to be normal.

Whatever normal may be. She wanted it, but it seemed like her powers would never allow that.

This made the anger and hatred inside her grow even stronger. Something that Amora would have to face no matter how hard she would try to fight and avoid it.

....

Sandra was surprised. Maddox had thrown glares her way, raised his voice a few times, said some things that she would just brush off, but he had never said anything like that to her.

Amora wanted to laugh because she had been in the Mountain Ridge pack for weeks and she had never seen the woman stunned with silence. But she didn't, she was disappointed. Again, she had no relationship with her parents and even though Sandra had done something that could get a lot of people hurt, she still didn't want Maddox to disrespect her.

She would wait until they were alone to address that though.

"So what the hell was the point of the shield if there was still an attack?" Sandra asks.

Amora placed her hand on Maddox's shoulder seeing that he was getting ready to speak. "Don't know if you know this or not, but the attack was outside of the shield."

"Inside or outside, it doesn't matter. My mate is hurt because of you!"

Amora held her breath for as long as she could before exhaling deeply. Sandra had some deep rooted issues that she needed to work out, and Amora wouldn't allow herself to be the person that everyone thought she was just because the lady didn't know how to express her damn feelings.

"No! The shield did its job. None of them got in, they were attacked on the road while coming back from a trip into town. Trying to blame Amora won't change the fact that you actually let the only lead we had go!" Says Maddox.

Sandra couldn't respond as he continued. "And you told Liam and Lucus that it was too dangerous to keep her here, but now she can bring all the reinforcements she'll need to get whatever it was that they came for in the first place."

Amora squeezed Maddox's shoulder as she heard footsteps getting closer. Mason stepped in seconds after knocking lightly on the door.

He didn't even care that no one had informed him that his father was awake, the seriousness of the situation hadn't hit him until now. Maddox quickly went to his father and locked his arms around him. He hadn't seen Mason when he had arrived at the hospital, just that Amora was helping him and he seemed to be fine.

Doctor Troy's words were just that. He didn't really ponder over them too much because when he had seen Mason then, he looked to be okay and was sleeping. Now though, the thought of never being able to talk, laugh with, hug, or just hangout with his father again terrified him.

"You know I can't leave until you make me a grandpa! I pray to the Moon Goddess that they don't have your head, they will rip Amora apart!" Mason says to his son through mindlink.
