Katheen's choices of companies to do business with and those not to, were spot on and very profitable for both the Fitzgerald and the O'Brien's. Nora knew her daughters mind well and trusted her and her mind to make decisions for the family even though she was the youngest. Kathleen only proved more valuable when she received her master's degree in accounting and financial management just before turning 17. Liam was in aw of his sister and wanted her to step forward as the new CEO of the family business. He was seeing her in a new light. All his life he, his brothers and cousins saw her as the princess of the family and an introvert. It was shocking to see her as this dedicated, smart and business savvy young women.
"Liam, It means so much to me to be a part of this family and to know that I am contributing" Kathleen said while her brother hugged her and their mother.
"Son, I want to step down as CEO for Fitzgerald Enterprise and name your sister the new CEO. It's my decision as we are a private company and we do not answer to anyone other than the members of this family. I have our Attorney's drawing up the paperwork as we speak. This has been kept secret at your father and sister's request for so long, but I feel she is ready. She has worked hard to get us where we are today and to get the education and knowledge to do the job. The hard part will be to have people take her seriously and to see her for who she is. Starting with the family." Nora told her eldest son.
"Mom, Katie girl I wish I had known all this years ago, but mom I started to suspect the decisions make for the company where not your own a couple of years ago. I just could not figure out who was influencing you. Then I decided that it did not matter. The decisions were they best for us all and all our business. You don't know how relieved I am to see that it was family all along.
