Monday morning Kathleen had her briefcase loaded up with her research on the property on W 36th St in a red folder, her information for HR in green and they document for the board in blue. She was all set to go and she was even early. Ok, so in part it was because she could not sleep last night. The excitement of the W 36th St building, her new official job and CEO and all the ideas bouncing around in her head kept her up. She was up showed and had changed her outfit 6 times before 7am. When she heard her mother get up at 7am she walked down the stairs to make coffee. Her mother walked into the kitchen around quarter to eight ready to go. "Well, let's get the show on the road." Nora said with a bounce in her step. Katie knew her mother was excited with handling just charity and the scholarship through the company. She wanted to be able to enjoy her self more and spend time with all us kids and her friends. Most of which did not work full time anymore themselves.
Arm in arm they walked out to the waiting car services. Katie knew her brothers and cousins where all meeting them in the office. None of them stayed over last night. Instead opted to go to their own homes throughout the city. Really their "homes" as they called them were apartment in and around the city and more like bachelor pads.
Nora talked most of the drive into the office. Filling the silence in and effort to ease her daughter nerves.
The car pulled up to the luxury office building. It was 15 floors and the top floor housed the company servers and was not accessible without security's authorization. The fourteenth floor was the executive floors along with the family offices where along with some the board members, a area for security and the larger of the boardroom. Floors six through thirteen housed the offices for Fitzgerald Enterprise with each floor dedicated to a department, separate team, or dedicated to subsidiary or other business endeavor. Floors two through five were for the O'Brien's Securities Office. They had a training or more like a gym set up on the 2nd floor. This is where their security personal trained. The rest being the office and IT. The first floor was the entrance the security check points for entrance to the building, waiting area and cafe that Katie has insisted they open for their employees with help from her cousin. The Port Café was owed by Brady, and was his own conception and addition to the O'Brien family name in addition to his father's restaurant 4 Leaf Clover that he and his brother Declan owed.
Katie wanted to help Brady have something all his own and suggested that they should have a place for employees shuttlely he jumped at the opportunity. They all liked the idea of helping their employees with good quality lunches at fair prices. Brady even came up with the idea to have it open to the public. They had an entrance separate from the main building entrance created. I was more of a grab and go café with only a dozen tables, but still good quality lunches. Those with employee badges received the employee discount and could take their lunch to a side room known as the lounge. It was set up with tables, chair and had more of a upscale lounge feel located on the first floor past the building check point and for employee use only.
Katie and Nora walked into the Café to check on the order Nora has placed last week for lunches to be brough up for the board meeting. Brady and Declan where already there and on top of everything. The women sat and had coffee and talked while they waited on the boys. Once that was all set Katie and Nora walked through security and up to the Security offices. Katie wanted to grab Ryan and Aiden to go over some changes and since they all were meeting the boar for lunch at noon, they had some time to kill. She personally, thought her cousins were curious on what she had planned.
"I am here to see Ryan and Aiden please" Katie said to Eddie at the front desk as they stepped of the elevator to the third floor. "Welcome Ms. Fitzgerald and Mrs. Fitzgerald." Ryan made sure that despite Katie not being know by really anyone in the companies that security did in case they ever had to step in and help her when she visited them for lunches in and around the city. She was still a Fitzgerald after all. The elevator opened behind them and Aiden, and Ryan stepped off. "Good we were hoping you would stop by early." Aiden said and escorted them all to a conference room. Ryan and his secretary Amber where already they're with the digital blueprints of the building up on the big screen. "Molly, it so good to see you. How is your son Richard? How is his physical therapy going?" Katie asked surprising them all. Molly beamed that Katie knowing she had come to the Hospital when her son had the surgery on his leg. He was injured plating high school football a few weeks ago before school let up. Richard had been so worried he would never play again. He was going to be a senior this year and the starting quarter back if he healed properly. "Ms. Kathleen he is doing wonderful. I wanted to thank you again for coming by and staying with me while he was being operated on and then visiting when he was in recovery. I think he has a crush on you. You are the first women to bring him flowers. He still gets red every time his friends or team mates asked about them." She said with a conspiratorial wink. Her son looked flushed and shushed her when she went to explain to people who visited him at first.
