Friday
Ryan and Aidan were making progress on all the security system upgrades to their system Katie had wanted. The most important of the which was on the executive floors that was completed yesterday. Now it was the task of installing additional discrete camera on the rest of the floors and hooked them up while the building would be closed. Realistically it would take a few weeks to get everything done for the entire building. Since the executive floor was now secure, they started with the rest from the bottom up.
Katie pooped into Ryan's office asking if she could have a security escort this afternoon into the evening. Finn who was in charge of project acquisition and her as CEO had a meeting with Mr. William's who is looking to expand his business and take on more projects. She did not think the meeting would go well at all. Ryan insisted they take Crystal and Leo both. She did not see the point in arguing.
They were meeting Williams at his office of the other side on the state where his office was.
Afterword's she would be going back to her mothers to get ready for and even tonight. Patrick and Declan were escorting her to the even held to raise money for the emergency responders (Police, Fire, EMT's). This it was going to be less like a fundraiser and more of a banquet with some of these past years notarized heroes speaking and receiving metals for going above and beyond. It was being sponsored and held in one of the high-end hotels owned by the Collins family in their banquet hall.
Katie when into her office to go over the updates and her check lists since becoming CEO. She was right on schedule she pondered.
It was 2pm when her phone rang and it was Paula in legal. Apparently, Brian the employee terminated on Monday never did respond to his options. Katie signed in frustration hating that she had to play her hand with the lack of choice from Brian who might have been calling her bluff. She asked Paula to call Ryan in security to see if he had any word on the person who was inconspicuously keeping table on Brian for them until they had his decision. Then to make the appropriate call to the police and district attorney with all the evidence and charge through would like to file.
With that discussion made she when to meet her brother Finn in the lobby. Katie was not surprised to see Crystal and Leo waiting before she got their and when Finn joined them a moment later, they go into the car services hired and were on their way. Leo updated Katie on Ryan's report of Brian. Apparently, Brian was seen coming out of a building owned by Williams Construction. Katie dismissed it as no one outside her family knew what she knew about Williams. She had Paula do a last-minute check of public and legal affairs associated with Williams and his business to cover her. She had the folder with information and would display her poker face as the new information's legal insisted she see prior to this meeting most legal teams working with the amount of money as state did this as standard in all their dealings. I showed just was she knew that he was not in good financial standing with his suppliers and employees. He was behind in payroll as new in the past few weeks. She hoped that the union was in on getting the funds from the sale of the W 36th St property also.
Forty minutes later they came up to William's Construction's headquarters. They were scene in to a large conference room. They where all silence knowing the room most likely had security video and audio. Crystal was posing as her assistant for the day since she so new to being CEO no one would questions it. Leo who was know to follow around the family members as personal security was well know and meant to stand out.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams entered the conference room with a mixture of pleased expressions and worry. What was a surprise was their daughter Sarah came in behind them and sat.
Kathleen stood and shook each of their hands hello.
"it's nice to see you again my dear. On a completely separate matter how is your client finding the W 36th St building purchased" Mr. Williams inquired.
"Mr. Williams I am sorry I am not a liberty to discuss my client and I hope you can understand that my role as their Attorney is separate from our dealing her today." Kathleen said smoothly. Mary's frown told her she was not happy with the sale and even less not having all the information on the buyer.
"Mr. Williams, I have to be honest I have been on the fence with partnering up with Williams Construction due to some information in the press, and public financial reports over the past few years of your company. Your company on paper appears to be on shaky grounds." Katie stated off and saw the frown on Sean match his wife's now. Sarah was just scowling at them.
"While it's true we in this marked economy we have some struggled we are still the most well-known Construction company in the tri-state area. With the support of the Fitzgerald Enterprise, we would only reach new heights together." Sean said smoothly.
"A general practice for most Attorney's for business like your and ours" Katie motioned to her and Finn "will supply us with the most up to date information available in public and legal matters before meeting. I was handled a fine literally on my way out of the lobby by legal. It concerns me as it stows a report of your company being issued a lien for a number of supplies, sub-contractors, vender and it looks like the local. This is a matter of public records Mr. Williams." She said closing the folder after reading it as if it was the first time, she looked at it.
The Williams all visibly winced.
"Those matters are being taken care of as we speak. It was the main reason for selling the W36th St building when I did. I have had offers of the years, but wanted to make sure my people and business associates got what was owed to them for services performed." He lied smoothly knowing that Fitzgerald values well.
"While we are happy that restitution is being made to those who work for you, we are not comfortable adding capital to your business at this time." Finn said. "I have advised my sister here against your proposal and our other brothers are in agreement." Katie looked to Finn with shock he would say such a think when he knew she had no intention of doing business with Williams ever. He and her bothers with that one statement had it sounded like the decision was there's. She was angry with him, but by the end of the meeting and on their way back to their car realized he was doing it to take the heat off her.
Once back in the car they talked it would and while she was pleased her brothers were looking out for her, she told Finn that it makes her look like an she does not know what she is doing. Finn agreed that he should have discussed it and phrased it all better, but what's done is done now.
"You do know that the authority lies with me and by making it look like I did not make that decision Williams will still try to talk to me about this to get me to sign a contract?" She pointed out to Finn.
"She is right. A guy like Williams who you can clearly see if on the brink of bankruptcy and rune will only push harder now" Leo spoke up. Crystal who was quite the entire meeting pretending to take notes was on the phone with Ryan updating him from the front seat where she was with the driver. She had run ins with men like Williams and knew he would try to corner, bully and possible even got to extremes when backed into a corner and was genuinely concerned for Ms. Fitzgerald.
