Sunday
Waking up Katie felt sore, and it took her a few moments to remember why. Slowly she got up showered and dressed for the day. Grabber her phone she saw she had several messages from Mindy, Carol, Justin, Emma, Molly, Marie and James all asking how she was going, and that word amounts her friends and family had spread about last night's attack.
Katie knew she was lucky to have so many people that cared about her enough to check in. She stated to message everyone she has fine, and she would talk to them soon as she walked down the stairs into the dining room for breakfast. Not surprising all her brothers and cousin were already them along with her mother. The all stopped talking and looked up as Nora's eyes met her daughters with an apologetic expression.
"Clover, Nina and Kelly Brand will be starting tomorrow as part of your security. I also have Tylor Bridgers and Mathew Simons. The Brands will be your day guards to better blend in as assistances in the office, shopping and just overall work hours. This would not look out of character for an heiress and CEO." Ryan spoke.
"We all spoke and would prefer you to have more visible muscle around in the evenings and weekends so decided that Tylor and Matthew would rotate in during times you are not in the office. You will still have a driver at all time and Jay Minors will also act in a guard role when needed and you are out and about." Ryan stated matter of fact.
Katie blew out a breath. "I understand where you are all coming from, and I am not going to argue this because I know it's for the best" she shocked them all my saying.
"It's just an adjustment that I am going to need to get used to. My attacker last night's statement make it sound like her was hired to hurt me. It must have been just poor planning and timing for him that he caught me with so many people around. Or maybe he through no one would help." Katie sat down and served herself come fruit, yogurt and toast.
Ping, Ping, Katie's phone indicated new messages coming through.
"Katie, what the hell happened are you ok?" James yelled. He was furious that his best friend was attached an already had his people looking into connection with the guy arrested. No dought the Fitzgerald's we on it, but Katie was like a sister to him, and he would be damned it her did not help.
"James, I told you I am fine and just stop. I know where your mind is going and Ryan, Aidan and Liam are already on top of things." She was getting a headache. Getting up she went into the kitchen with Ryan trailing behind her. Katie put her phone on speaker and set it down and grabbed the bottle of Tylenol from the cabinet. She shook out two pills while Ryan grabbed some water from the refrigerator for her. "Thanks" she said to Ryan.
"Listen James, I know you are close to my cousin and the family is already looking into that slums life. However, if you can offer any incite or connections, please let me know." Ryan spoke. He might not have known James well but had background on most of the city's proponent families and knew him to be a good person. He also knew that if he was in Katie's life then it was not an issue. His cousin was an excellent judge of character and an as they all were learning was more brilliant than they thought.
"Well, if you are ok, I would like to accompany today. I know you were planning to go over to your new building a shipping for stuff for the apartments." James said.
"" What, Katie you cannot you were attacked last night" Ryan said. Nora and Aidan came walking int other kitchen with plates to clean. They did not have day staff to handle the little things but did hire a cleaning company and when needed had staff come in, but like to do for themselves most of the time. "Now boys your sister cannot stop living and hide away. You know as well as I do that it was her idea for her security even before last night. This just pushed up the timetables of getting that in place." Nora reminded them and they nodded.
