While in the elevator Katie got message from Brady that lunch was on its way up. When Nora, Kathleen, Ryan and Aiden all stepped off the elevator they say the rest of their family coming down the hall. The family and board were all meeting in the largest conference room to make the announcement. Ryan walked over to Leo who was assigned today to the fourteenth floor. No drought to let me know that under no circumstance without his or one of the family's verbal permissions was anyone to be allowed access to this floor who did not work her and on this floor until future notice and to let the rest of security know discretely. Also, that the lunch ordered for them in on it way and approved and to make sure he grabbed some too. Ryan was always thoughtful of the men and women who were part of his team. He liked to rotate all his people and their locations so they stay sharp and get a variety date to date.
Nora walked to the head of the long oval shaped table and said down. The rest of the Fitzgerald's and the O'Brien's took seat closest to her with Kathleen on her right. She would switch seat with her daughter soon and a display for the board member of passing on the reins officially.
Everyone has just sat down when lunch was wheeled in by a Brady's Manager of the Port Café who nodded everything was all set. "Thank you Marie." Brady said "Everyone before we begin this meeting why don't we all take grab lunch. We have a lot to go over and the families can take turns talking why the rest eat lunch."
"Wonderful idea Brady." Nora said. As everyone got up again and grabbed their sandwich, chip and drink she continued. "First, I wanted to remind everyone here that the Fitzgerald Enterprise is a private family-owned business. We do not have investors or stock holders that we need to report to and are not help accountable to any one party. As such decision make are by the head of the family. That said the Fitzgerald's CEO has never been a dictator which is we have a board in the first place to discuss business decision with. Even through we are not obligated to." Nora stated off strong. Some of the board member where already back in their seats and looking worried. "I am going to ask that you all save comments and questions until the end. This will save time as I much of which you would ask will be answered today anyway." She paused to make sure each member nodded their heads. My late husband, sister-in-law and brother-in-law and I stared the ideas of the Fitzgerald Enterprise and the O'Brien's Business you see today, but even back seven years ago the founders where not always the ones making the calls that brought us where we are today. We have continued to grow business wise over the past five years as me as CEO. I need to tell you that I have been CEO in name only through. One of my children has been the voice and intelligences behind all the agreements we have taken and those that we declined to do business with." She paused and the board member almost as if rehired looked to Liam. Who was already shaking his head "I can confirm it was not me. I am happy where I am as COO and assisting the CEO when needed. I have known who the real power was for only a year and then the rest of the family was informed just this weakened. I will say that we are all 100% on board with this change officially in CEO. It was made officially last week and I myself signed the documents as a witness along with a family friend and renound businessman along with two judges and the company lawyer." Liam gestured for his mother to continue.
"I am proud to present to you all the reason for all our success over these past six to seven years and the new CEO, my daughter Kathleen Fitzgerald." Katie stood and switched seats with her mother as planned.
"Thank you, mother. It means the world to me that I have my family's full support. I will be happy to go into details and provide the hand written documentation of my name on decision, contracts, name and research done over the years on any number of the decisions made to show not only did I do the work, but know what I am talking about. Patrick if you could pass out a copy of my resume and the press released prepare that will go out at 3pm today to all of our employees, business associate and the press." Katie asked. "Please look these over before speaking up as I think you will be pleased. I have also included a copy of the NDA's and the continuality agreements signed for by some of our more lucrative clients who where aware who was the real person behind making the decisions for this company. I'll let you read through these, but will point out that I am a certified genius and while I may only be weeks shire of turning twenty-one, I have the following degrees.
Associate's Degree in Economics
Bachelor of Business Administration
Master's Degree in Accounting and Financial Management
Kathleen Fitzgerald MBA Managerial Accounting (CPA)
Kathleen Fitzgerald, Ph. D Business Management
Kathleen Fitzgerald Attorney at Law (Bar Certified)
"Holy shit" Mason Morales one of the most respected and intuitive board member said. "Its hard to believe, but the Fitzgerald's and the O'Brien's are amount the most honest people in the city my reputation. None of you would support Kathleen if she was not the real deal as all this proof provided could easily be verified with the parties involved, her school and like you said her knowledge alone on all these deals made." Mason stated the obvious. Katie suspected it was to drive the point home and knew she always like him and his professional demeanor. "Thank you, Mason. Like you said all this information can be verified and if you feel you need to please do. I only ask you do it discreetly so as not to tarnish Fitzgerald's and the O'Brien's names or business."
The members behand to talk and she would see no sign that their work and the proof she provided was false. If fact it looked like they all seam please with the news and maybe that dome of them suspected her mom was not calling the shot even if they tough it was her brother Liam. Maybe even a collective decision of the Fitzgerald's and the O'Brien's family member. Either way it did not matter. They all knew the truth now. They spent another ninety minutes talking. Finally, about 2:30pm Katie asked the board member to reconvene on Friday with any additional questions for her and to encouraged them all again to do their own review of her background if needed. Stating she had some matter to discuss with her family on some other matters.
"That went surprisingly well" Katie said as she slumped back in her chair after the conference room door shut.
"I'll say, I was expecting them to get upset and even call bullshit, but none of them did. Being in the room with them all when they received that information, you could tell the shock, but they were all pleasantly surprised and I dare say looked proud. Its hard for even business men and women to maintain their poker faces with all that." Ryan said
"That was my thought process behind the relieve the way I did it. It was orcastrated this way on purpose down to my foresight into having the NDA's and the continuality agreements signed by some of our more lucrative clients. They were all made aware that this day would come, but at a time of my choosing. It will only add to their reputations and cause hype for their business now that the this is all coming out. Showing the farsightedness each of them processed. The shared success speaks for itself."
"Wow, just wow I do not think any of us five or six years ago let alone today would think to the all you have in anticipation for this reveal." Patrick said to no one in particular, but saw his family react to his words and the realization.
"Well, if my work here is done, I am going home and relaxing. I'll come in tomorrow and meet with you Finn about the changes outline earlier on the expansion of the scholarship program and to research for the additional benefit Kathleen wanted to add to our employees benefit program." Nora said and hugged each of her children and nephew's goodbye.
