"who else knows about the crown and the sceptre?" cordelia overheard, lifting her fist up and lightly knocking on the door. this was going to be an interesting conversation.

"hey," cordelia smiled, walking over to mal and evie. "what's going on in here? you guys seem upset?"

"i missed you cords!" evie jumped up and hugged her.

"evie, i live next door? you came over last night when carlos and i were finishing jane's cake?" she laughed, taking a seat next to the girls. "how are you, mal?"

"so happy your here." mal smiled, holding cordelia's hand with a squeeze. "cords, the queens crown and sceptre have been stolen." cordelia gasped, looking between the two girls.

"who else knows?"

"about the scepter," mal asked, receiving a nod. "no one. i mean, think about it, people are scared enough as it is."

"what is auradon doing about this? i can't imagine how scared people must be. that scepter holds so much power." cordelia asked, running a hand down her face.

"we've had to put entirely new security measures."

"wait, so, are more vk's still going to come over? this won't change anything right?" cordelia felt evie squeeze her hand, rubbing it in hers.

"will this delay them coming over?" evie asked, both girls staring at mal with big eyes.

"we're talking about closing the barrier for good." mal said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"but you said no? right." cordelia felt her chest tighten and her words came out all anxious and nervous.

"of course, you said no. right, m?" evie turned to mal. "i mean, the four of us are living the dream here, and we finally get to share that. i mean, what could be more important than that?"

"yeah, i know." she turned to her right, taking a few steps and sitting back down. "i mean, maybe security or maybe peace of mind for everyone in auradon."

"is that what they're thinking?" evie asked, her eyes wide.

cordelia ran a hand through her hair. "what about all the promises made to those kids? are they seriosuly going to be stuck there, for the rest of their lives? how does that make their lives better?!" she spoke, her tone growing angry.

"what, we never get to go back and see our parents?" evie questioned with teary eyes. "and what about these kids? we promised them that they could go back and visit whenever they wanted."

"yeah, i know." mal said.

"m," evie started, taking mal's hand. "i'm so glad that you are going to be queen. you'll be apart of these conversations, you will stand up for the vks. thank you for telling us." evie took cordelia's hand and pulled her into a hug.

"thank you mal, you are going to be such an amazing queen, i can just feel it."

"morning, got the beach towels." carlos greeted, as he made his way into the kitchen. his arms carrying a stack of colourful beach towels before shoving them into one of their picnic baskets.

"morning." evie smiled, throwing some apples at jay.

carlos made his way towards the end of the bench, where cordelia stood finishing some of the sandwiches and placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

"i really think she's going to love the cake you made." he whispered, helping her cut the last final sandwiches.

"we made, silly." she chuckled, packing the sandwiches into a container and passing them to carlos. he smiled, taking the container and spinning around his smile dropping when he saw the cake. "oh no." he mumbled.

"no! no! no!" cordelia gasped, rushing over to the cake. carlos put the container down, staring hopelessly at the cake.

"okay, who got into jane's cake?!" he shouted across the house, while cordelia ran a hand down her face.

meanwhile, dizzy and celia sat outside with a slice of cake each. "delicious." dizzy giggled, licking her lips.

"i especially love the lack of dirt." celia added, taking another bite.

"and the lack of flies." dizzy chuckled.

"want some more?" celia asked, offering dizzy some more of her cake.

"oh, thank you." dizzy smiled, taking a bite of cake. the two giggled, taking a bite of their cake sighing in delight. they could really get used to auradon.

there was a loud cackling coming from outside, cordelia and carlos ran to the window peaking out to see audrey. they shared a look before running outside, evie, jay and celia following. once they reached outside, they saw audrey with a whole new dark make over, holding the scepter and the queens crown.

"so long, suckers!" she yelled, spinning around and disappearing into a puff of pink smoke.

jay turned to mal, letting out a small scream. "uh, you might wanna think of a spell for that." he chuckled awkwardly. cordelia stood by carlos, staring at mal well the super old version of mal.

"there's no spell that can reverse the curse of the scepter." mal said, her voice slow and quiet.

"well, that's a shame." carlos spoke, cordelia hitting him on the arm.

"forget about me," mal began. "audrey's out for revenge and all of auradon is in danger."

"what should we do?" cordelia asked.

"the only thing more powerful than the scepter, is." mal paused. "hades ember."

oh, like he's just gonna hand it over if you blew him back to the isle." jay said, crossing his arms across his chest.

"no one knows where his lair is."

"i do, i'm his errand rat. i've got the keys at my dads." celia pipped up.

"you're coming." mal pointed at celia, who pouted.

"but i just got here." she protested.

"mal?" dizzy asked, walking out of evie's starter castle holding hands with both smee twins. dizzy let out a scream, not recognising mal. the twins jumped, hugging the older girl.

"dizzy, stay here to take care of the twins, we'll be right back and everything will be just fine." evie ushed, dizzy nodded. "go inside."
