A couple months ago Y/n was convinced her entire world was crashing down.
Her twin brother, Jason, mysteriously disappears in the middle of the night, with absolutely no sign of him leaving or where he was going. He was simply there one minute gone the next. Y/n didn't even remotely know where he could have went.
She remembered running to Reyna in the early morning, after she had searched all of camp for her brother. Rambling on through her panicked tears about how she couldn't find Jason. She remembered the way Reyna's face hardened as she sent out people to look for him.
Y/n could not remember a time without Jason. They had been through absolutely everything together. She wasn't able to go on the search for him, so she had to simply sit back and hope for the best. She felt so hopeless and vulnerable in that moment, when the search parties all came back with no trace of Jason Grace.
For weeks, she was completely thrown off her game. She couldn't train or eat or do much of anything really. Hazel, Frank, and Reyna had to come into her room to feed her leftovers from dinner because Y/n didn't even want to leave her room.
Then one day, things changed.
Y/n was in her room, wallowing in self pity when Reyna came to the door.
"Rey", Y/n groaned, "I really don't want to go to dinner right now".
Reyna seized Y/n by her arms and pulled her out of her bed, "You have to come with me. Now".
That's how she met Percy Jackson.
He had already spoken to Reyna and met Hazel and Frank, now he was being introduced to Y/n. Safe to say Percy was beyond confused, and a little disgruntled.
Reyna stormed up to him, tugging a girl behind her. The girl sighed when they came to a stop and she studied Percy.
"Hello", she said.
"Um, hey", he responded.
She looked him up and down a couple times, bit her lip, and turned to Reyna.
"He is not one of ours", Y/n whispered.
"No".
"I'm right here", Percy pointed out.
Y/n folded her arms, "Yes, we know. I'm Y/n".
"I'm Percy, it's nice to meet you".
He studied her features as she stood there silently, she was a shocking sort of pretty, with particularly striking features. He was almost mesmerized by her.
"I will show you around", she offered.
Percy nodded, "Okay, yeah sure".
They had been close ever since.
Percy had taken her on the quest with him Frank and Hazel, which overjoyed Y/n. She hoped it could eventually lead her to Jason, but she found something else on this quest.
Her and Percy spent a bunch of time together. Staying up late nights and taking walks in the early morning. He couldn't get rid of her grief, but he helped her carry it.
She felt a bit of her old self coming back when she was around Percy. Hazel pointed that out one day while they were walking.
"You smile more", the girl had said, "I missed you smiling".
Y/n hugged her, "Yeah? Do I?".
"With Percy".
Y/n blushed a deep red, but Hazel was right. She smiled and laughed more with Percy around. When he was with her, it was like life wasn't so bad anymore.
