Maeve Dominique Valencia
-present-

When he was away, I felt like I always couldn't breathe.

I am literally in a hospital right now. Hindi niya pa alam, pero alam kong hindi naman ito sobrang lala. Mabilis ding naagapan nang dahil kay Isha.

When Isha brought me to the hospital, I woke up after three hours.

"Maeve! Oh, God you're awake!" natatarantang sabi pa ni Isha. "What happened to you?" she worriedly asked.

I smiled. No one knows my supposedly hidden weakness, but this is Isha, so it's fine for her to know, and besides, she already knew. I couldn't keep it a secret anymore, nor could I lie about this.

"Just asthma." I even shrugged like it was nothing when I almost died if Isha didn't appear.

"Bakit hindi ko alam 'to? Matagal ka na bang may asthma?"

"Ngayon lang kasi ulit ako inatake. Hindi ko naman na sinasabi dahil alam ko naman limitations ko."

Bumagsak ang mga balikat ni Isha.

"Anyway, did you tell anyone that I'm here?" I worriedly asked. I don't want anyone to know.

Umangat ang isang kilay ni Isha. "Knowing you? Of course not. Ako yung tinawagan mo dahil alam mong kilala na kita. Saka hindi ko nga alam na may asthma ka na ako yung pinaka-best friend mo, kaya bakit ko sasabihin sa iba, right?"

I smiled. That's why I didn't hesitate to call her. She's the only one I can trust.

"Anyway, sa sobrang pagka-paranoid ko sa nangyari, pina-test kita ng kung ano-ano dahil hindi ko masabi sa doctor ano ba yung nangyari sayo. Baka lumabas na rin yung result tomorrow. Let's see na rin kung ano lagay ng body mo. We need to make sure that you're healthy. And that being said, you should stay for the night na rin," may warning sa himig ng boses niya kaya hindi na rin ako nakipag-argument pa.

"Okay. Only tonight. May trabaho pa ako,"I reminded her.

Even though there are some huge issues in my life, the world won't stop. There are a lot of people who are depending on me, so I still need to do what I need to do.

"You're really stubborn, but that's enough. It would help if you rested for now. Don't ever think of anything."

Because of what she said, I suddenly remembered why I was brought here to the hospital. I don't want to overthink it, but I can't help. He might be with Filoah now, but I know he'll explain to me just like how he made me understand why he had to meet with Filoah that night.

He's honest. I must trust him because he's also my husband now. He wouldn't act recklessly now that we're in the center of attention. I also believe he wouldn't want Filoah to get more hateful and false accusations with these issues regarding us three.

But he better have a good explanation for what he did.

"I'll stay here with you. I already informed my boss that I'll take a leave tomorrow," Isha muttered as she sat on the sofa near my hospital bed.

"Thank you, Isha," I sincerely uttered. "Despite everything... I'm glad I have you as my friend."

Isha flipped her hair. "You don't have a choice naman 'no. I am your only trusted best friend kaya," she tried to remove the serious atmosphere, which helped.

"I know," pag-amin ko na. She widely smiled with triumpt.

"I'll sleep later on. I just woke up, so I still have energy," I added.

"Okay. I'll sleep here muna, ah?" she said. I nodded.

As a flight attendant, Isha was easily able to sleep everywhere, so when she said she was going to sleep, she fell asleep after closing her eyes.
