Chapter thirty eight:

Aaliyah's pov:

Lando drove into the building,
in his McLaren,towards the sea of Papaya waiting for him,basking in the glory of his first Grand Prix win. All of the team buzzed with excitement as the team prepared for a special ceremony to honor their victorious driver. Mattheo and I were right there amongst the worker, eager to witness this historic moment.

As Lando stepped out of his car, holding the gleaming trophy high above his head, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause. The cheers echo
Through the centre, filling the air with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Lando's eyes scanned the crowd,until they landed on me and Mattheo. His gaze met mine and a wide smile spread across his face.

Lando walks towards Andrea stella with his trophy in his hand. When he gets close enough Andrea holds out a glass of champagne which lando happily takes.

When the applauds calm down, Andrea was handed a mic to make a speech. "Let's uh raise our glasses of champagne to welcome the winner of the formula one 2024 Miami Grand Prix Lando Norris" he says as everyone cheers again and raises their glasses.

Andrea hand over the mic to Lando as he began to give his speech. "Just a massive thank you, this one as much as I'm holding it is for all of you. The journey we have been on together to finally have our and my first win is incredible so um thank you very much" Lando's voice boomed through the microphone, his excitement palpable. The crowd cheered even louder, showing their unwavering support for their beloved driver. Lando turned his attention to the McLaren team, who had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this victory possible. "To my incredible McLaren family, I am forever indebted to you. Your dedication, passion, and expertise have propelled us to this triumph. From the mechanics who fine-tuned my car to the engineers who strategized each move, you have shown what it means to be a team. I can't thank you enough for believing in me and pushing me to be the best version of myself."

I watched with tears of joy threatening to run down her face as Lando continued his speech. Mattheo, wide-eyed and beaming, clung onto my hand, taking in every word. This is a moment we would cherish forever.

"And to my Aaliyah, and my little buddy, Mattheo," Lando's voice softened, his gaze filled with an unfamiliar emotion. "You two have been my pillars of strength throughout the weekend. Aaliyah, your unwavering support and belief in me have fueled my determination. Mattheo, you may be young, but your enthusiasm and infectious energy have kept me going, even on Saturday,the toughest day. This win is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you for being my biggest fans and for standing by me every step of the way."He hands the mic back over to one of the workers when someone asks if they can get a photo with Andrea and Zak.

The crowd erupted into applause once again, their cheers mingling with the sound of Lando's heartfelt words. I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and joy for the driver i had supported from the very beginning.

"If you would like to follow me" a worker said into the microphone. Lando walks up to us and holds his hand out for Mattheo. Mattheo happily grabs is as Lando leads the way into the other room.

"For the team, for lando, let's look at the video" Andrea said as he gestured to the screen.

All the conversation stopped when video began to play. On the screen you could see all of the workers proudly admiring the big screen that was displayed at the race. All of the workers had huge smiles on there faces, some even had tears running down their faces. All of the mechanics got up off there seats and began to run to the pit wall to watch the moment lando finally got his maiden win and crossed the finishing line first. Everyone applauds and screams in joy as they watch video end.

Once again, Lando got pulled up to the front to give yet another speech. " this has been my dream since I was a kid, you know since I was six, seven years old. I remember watching McLaren, I have said this many times Fernando against lewis in the same team and thinking like wow, one day that's something, that's a place I would love to be apart of McLaren, part of formula one, winning races and now I've been able to achieve it. But I think the best thing of all is that I've been able to share it will all of you and bringing these trophies home to you so am amazing few days, I'm still recovering so bear with me but uh yeah so excited and as much as we've just won, I think it has made me even more greedy to want to try and do it again uh yeah. I'll just want to end it with another massive thank you to every single one of you making all this possible. Let's keep working hard, let's keep pushing because we know we can still improve on many things and we have already won a race so that's incredible and thankyou very much everyone" he finishes saying what he wanted to say he hands the microphone back to Andrea who then announces that he will hand it over to the ceo of McLaren, Zak Brown.

As Lando listened to his CEO's speech, he gently wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me close. It felt comforting and secure, like we were in our own little world, even in the midst of the crowd. As Lando and I stood there, listening to Zak's speech, Mattheo tugged at Lando's leg. 'Daddy, my legs are tired,' he said with a pout. At first, I was taken aback, ready to correct Mattheo, but before I could say anything, Lando's face lit up with a gentle smile. He looked at Mattheo with acceptance, and without hesitation, he scooped him up into his arms. With Mattheo in his arms, Lando wrapped his free arm back around me, pulling me closer. He rested his head gently on top of mine, creating a warm and loving embrace.

"Let me start of by saying that was about an awesome as a weekend as you get. All of you have done an unbelievable job.I think next year we just go ahead and start the season with an upgraded race car , upgraded monsters,It's awesome. It's pretty cool now that there on pit wall once we got lando in the lead, he just drove away from everyone it was, it was amazing. Oscar drove unbelievably. It think that was Oscar's best weekend from the minute he hit the circuit on friday. As Andrea mentions upgrades, part upgrades, he just got on with it and it was mega impressive, it's a shame his race didn't play out because I think we would have had two cars on the podium. The only argument I had was at the end of the race was with Andrea who was trying to convince me actually you sure you don't want to go on the podium and I said nope. You have lead this team from a terrible Miami last year to winning 12 months later it's amazing so that was well deserved. And that's it cheers" Zak says as everyone gives a round of applause

As the ceremony came to a close, Lando spoke to as many of McLaren team he could. This special moment was captured with a photographs that would forever serve as a reminder of this extraordinary achievement. Lando had not only won his first Grand Prix, but he had also won the hearts of those who mattered most to him. With his victory, he had etched his name in the annals of Formula 1 history and solidified his place as a rising star in the sport.
