132- the next day Dawson took the day off shift to stay home with Leslie, she spent the day with Leslie at the shops and came home in the afternoon and put her to sleep, it was night time and Dawson was watching a movie when their was a knock on the door, she stood up at opened the door to find chief Boden and Severide covered in smoke standing in the door way, Dawson felt sick to her stomach 'Kelly, don't you dare tell me what I think you are about to say' Severide took a step forward and Dawson stepped back 'gabby I-' Dawson shook her head 'no! this can't happen, Kelly, I can't loose him!' Severide grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him and engulfed her in a hug 'wha- what happened Kelly?' Severide held her tightly 'we were in a apartment fire and the roof collapsed above us, it landed right on top of him, I was only a few feet in front' Dawson shook violently in Severide's arms 'hey, shhh, it's okay, he's a fighter, he'll be fine, I know he is' right at that moment Leslie started screaming, Dawson went to start walking upstairs but Severide stopped her 'hey, you should sit down for a minute, chief get her a glass of water before she passes out, I'll grab Leslie then we'll head to Lakeshore' Dawson stopped crying 'okay, I'm fine' chief came back into the room with a glass of water 'here gabby, drink this' Dawson took the glass and drank it 'thanks chief' Severide came back down stairs with Leslie 'hey gabs, we're gonna meet chief at lakeshore, we're taking your car, but I'm driving, you can't drive in this mindset' Dawson nodded 'alright, let's go, I need to see Matt, now' Severide nodded and they left the apartment and sped off to the hospital. They got to the hospital and Dawson ran up to the reception desk 'is there a Matthew Casey in the system?' The receptionist looked at the computer 'yes, but no visitors allowed' Dawson took Leslie off Severide 'I'm a paramedic, he's a firefighter at we work at station 51, he's my husband, look at this, a ring, I'm married to him' she said as she showed the ring to the receptionist 'this is his daughter, now, you better let me see him before I cause trouble' the receptionist shook her head 'if you at the least refuse orders, I'll call the police' Dawson smiled 'well, I'm sorry to tell you this but my brother is in the intelligences unit, I know the whole department over where he works, I can get you locked up in 2 seconds if you don't do what I tell you' the woman shook her head and Severide stepped up 'look ma'am I would listen to her, she'll get the whole intelligence unit onto you if you don't' the woman rolled her eyes 'floor 6, room 282' Dawson grabbed Leslie off Severide and they rushed up to the room, they walked in and Dawson broke down 'oh, baby!' Dawson sobbed as she ran over to the bed and kissed him hoping he'd wake up 'how long do you think he's been out?' Dawson asked Severide as she sat down 'uh, I'd say since about 20 minutes before I turned up at your apartment' Dawson shook her head as tears fell 'baby, please wake up, you can't leave me, Leslie needs her daddy and I need my baby, come on, please wake up'. Dawson and Severide went to the cafeteria and had something to eat then went back up to the floor Casey was on 'GABBY!!!!', Dawson turned around and saw Brett running up to her 'honey, what happened?' Brett asked as she hugged Dawson 'I don't know, Kelly and chief came to my apartment and I thought he was gone' she sobbed as Brett ran her hand down her back to soothe her 'it's okay sweetie, he'll be fine' Dawson pulled back 'honey, do you want me to take Leslie?' Dawson smiled 'that'd be great, thanks, I'm gonna go sit with Matt again', she gave them faint smile and slipped into the room again, she sat down at the chair and took Casey's hand again 'baby, I really need you here, I can't be without you, I love you' Dawson looked down and sighed ' you don't have to, I love you too baby' Dawson looked up and Casey still had his eyes closed 'Matt?' Casey squeezed her hand 'Mmm... Yes baby?' Dawson gasped 'Matt!! Oh, baby!' She sobbed as she grabbed Casey and hugged him 'argh, my chest baby, my chest is still sore' Dawson pulled back 'I'm sorry baby' she said as looked at him smiling 'I better go tell everyone you're awake' Casey nodded 'hey, wait, come here baby' he said as he waved his hand at her, Dawson immediately realising what he wanted, she walked over to the side of his bed, he gabbed her arm and pulled her down, pulling his lips to hers, firmly kissing her lips, he pulled away 'I'm sorry baby, I can't do that for too long' Dawson smoothed his hair down 'it's okay, I'm just glad you're alive, I love you baby' Casey smiled 'I love you too, go tell everyone I'm okay' she smiled and kissed him again 'okay baby, I'll be right back, I love you', Dawson left the room with an unreadable expression on her face 'well? How Is he?' Otis asked, Dawson sighed 'he's uh, he's alright, the doc said he should be fine and uh' everyone looked at each other 'and what?' Otis asked Dawson looked up 'and... He's uh.... He's awake' she said the last part as smile spread across her face 'oh my god! That's amazing news!' Brett said as she still held Leslie 'hey momma, do you wanna see daddy?' Dawson asked Leslie 'I want daddy!' Leslie said, Dawson laughed 'okay honey, let's go see daddy'. Dawson walked into the room with Leslie 'hey honey, we have to be quiet just incase daddy is sleeping' Dawson whispered to Leslie 'hey babe, no I'm not asleep, I wanna see my girls, come here' Dawson laughed 'hey again baby' she said as she kissed him 'don't you dare scare me like that again' Casey smiled 'I won't, I promise' he said grinning 'hey I think Leslie wants to hug daddy, I think she knows something happened' Casey adjusted the pillows underneath him 'here, come here bubba, daddy wants a hug too' Leslie climbed onto him and curled up just beneath his chest and closed her eyes 'huh, I guess someone missed daddy' Dawson said as she sat down 'Mmm.... It sounds like she fell asleep, the way her little body feels a little heavier than usual and her breathing is slower' Dawson smiled 'hmmm.... She's adorable, here, let me take a picture' Dawson got out her phone and took a picture 'aww... That's too cute, here babe, look at this' Casey looked at the photo 'haha, now that's adorable'. There was a knock on the door and the doctor walked in 'ah, Mr. Casey, you're awake' Casey smiled 'yeah, I am, how does it look doc?' The doctor smiled 'yeah, everything seems to be perfectly where we want it, is this your baby?' Casey smiled and put his hand on Leslie's back 'yeah, this is my daughter Leslie and my wife Gabby' the doctor smiled 'Mr. Casey wouldn't stop talking about you when he was in recovery, loopy on the meds I reckon, but he really loves you guys, talking about how beautiful his wife is and how adorable his daughter is' Dawson laughed 'well, I wouldn't deny it for a second' Casey said. 20 minutes later a nurse came into the room 'okay, Mr Casey, I need to give you pain meds and all the rest of your prescribed meds'. An hour later the medication kicked in and Casey was loopy, the rest of 51 came to visit Casey, they all walked in and cruz came up to Dawson and kissed her on the cheek 'how's he going?' Casey frowned 'hey, keep it up Cruz I'll put you on bathroom duty and drills' Dawson laughed 'baby? What's going on?' Dawson asked, Casey just shrugged, Severide came up to Casey and hugged him 'hey, have you seen how amazing my wife is? Oh my god, she is so beautiful, sexy and she has given me everything I've ever wanted' Severide chuckled 'yeah, I have, she is exactly what you said she is' Casey smiled 'yeah, look at this little one, she's been lying asleep on me for at least 2 hours' Severide smiled 'I think she missed her daddy' Casey chuckled, he looked at Dawson and smiled, her catching his eye and smiling back, he patted the space next to him 'come here baby' Dawson smiled as she stood up and walked over to Casey and laid down with him and kissed him 'I love you' Casey moved his arm so it was around Dawson 'I love you too' he said as he kissed her again 'hey no PDA!' Severide said jokingly 'hey, watch it, I thought he was dead when you and chief Boden came to our apartment covered in smoke, so I don't care what anyone says about PDA, and anyways you guys are all adults right?' Severide laughed 'yeah, we are, hey, uh I've been thinking about me moving in with you guys and would it make it easier if I moved in right after Matt gets home so I can help out?' Dawson smiled 'yeah, that sounds great' Casey pulled Dawson down again and kissed her 'this ones still asleep?' Dawson said laughing 'yeah, she's still sleeping and looks really comfortable' Dawson smiled 'I'm glad you're okay' Casey chuckled 'me too, well, I couldn't leave my wife and daughter alone could I?'.
