Chapter 135: it was 2 weeks later and it was Casey's first day back at work, he was running around the house looking for his uniform 'hey babe, do you know where my shirt is?' He called out to Dawson, she appeared a few minutes later holding his shirt, she grabbed him and pulled him closer 'it was on the chair in our room upstairs' Casey went to grab it but Dawson pulled it away 'ah, what do you say?' Casey sighed 'thank you baby' Dawson reached up and kissed him, pressing his shirt into his chest. 20 minutes later Laura had picked up Leslie for the day and Dawson and Casey were at the firehouse, they were walking in when Dawson broke the silence 'hey, you know this is your first shift back after the accident' Casey nodded 'yeah, It is, I'm glad to be back though' Dawson smiled 'yeah, me too baby' she said as she lent in to kiss him 'hey! There's my lovebirds!' Hermann shouted as they reached the apparatus floor, Dawson looked over at Casey who was rubbing the back of his neck 'baby? Why are you nervous?' He looked at her with wide eyes 'what do you mean nervous?' Dawson smiled 'babe, I know you better than anyone else does, you rub your neck like that when you're nervous' Casey chuckled 'okay, I am nervous' Hermann walked up to Casey 'what's there to be nervous about, kid?' Casey smiled 'ah, just worried about what chief has to say about my relieve lieutenant' Hermann smirked 'oh, uh, don't worry, nobody died!' Casey laughed 'alright, I'm gonna go change out'. Casey changed into his uniform and walked out of the locker room and stopped at Severide's office door, he knocked and then opened it 'hey Sev, how's it going?' Severide turned in his chair and yawned 'yeah, lieutenant reports, didn't sleep well last night' Casey smirked 'and why didn't you sleep well last night?' Severide grinned 'if your thinking what I think you are, that's not it' Casey put his hands up in surrender 'alright, if you say so, oh, uh, I've been meaning to ask you, Leslie's second birthday is soon so I was wondering if her uncle Kelly would like to help plan it' Severide smiled 'absolutely, anything for my little Les' Casey smiled 'alright, I'll leave you to it then'. Casey walked out of Severide's office and bumped into Dawson, she looked up as he placed his hands on her shoulders 'oh, hey baby, sorry, I didn't see you there' Casey smiled 'all good' he said as he lent down and kissed her 'oh, hey, lunch is ready, do you mind telling Severide?'
