Chapter 2: *6 months later* 'hey, Shay, can I ask you something?' Dawson said, Shay looked up From the supplies she was sorting 'yeah, sure' Dawson glanced around 'ok, do you think Mills would take it the wrong way if I asked him to my cousins Christmas party?' Shay stared at her 'family gatherings are for serious suitors... so don't you think you should be asking Casey instead, I mean, him and Hallie broke up a while ago so I think you should be asking him...' Dawson sat down and said 'I don't know if I should ask Casey' Shay laughed 'what?, are you afraid he'll say no?' Dawson gave her a stern look 'bitch, please'. *later that day* ' I think you should get a new dress' shay said, 'meh, I'll just recycle a dress from my closet, ok, just wait here' Dawson said as she walked up to where Casey was sitting and sat down with him ' ok, Saturday night, what are your plans?' Casey smiled 'depends, what've you got?' Dawson cleared her throat 'ok, my cousin hosts this Christmas party every few years...' Casey glanced up 'sounds awesome, and you need a date?', Dawson felt herself blush 'oh, umm..not exactly a date... Just a friend to take' 'well.... Why don't you ask Mouch instead?' Dawson frowned 'if you're up for a date then tell me what time to pick you up' Dawson laughed '7:30?', as Casey grinned ' well.... I'll Pick you up at 7:30 then!'. Dawson got up and started to walk out of the room when Shay joined her, Dawson glanced over 'yeah I definitely need a new dress!'

Casey picked up Dawson from her house at 7:30 pm, while they were in the car Casey got a gut feeling he shouldn't be going to the party, but he fought against the feeling. It was getting late into the night and Casey met most of Dawson's family and while he was talking to her Aunty she came up and grabbed his arm and walked away with him 'oh, I can't wait to show you this room' Dawson said as she turned a corner, Casey following. They walked into the room 'wow, this is amazing' Casey said as he looked around and Dawson handed him a glass of champagne 'oh, you better learn how to keep up buddy boy' she said smiling as Casey nodded his head 'uhm... I mean, are we here as friends or...is this a date' Casey stopped smiling at her words as she lent in to kiss him, he reluctantly pulled away and instead kissed her on the cheek making Dawson frown 'it isn't a good time....' And Dawson shook her head as she took a step back 'no, I... I get it' ' it's Because.... It's worth doing right, right?' And Dawson stared at him 'yeah, you're right.... Are you ready for dessert.... I'm ready..... For dessert' she said as she walked out of the room Casey following her.

The next shift Casey bumped into Dawson as he walked out of the locker room 'hey.... I just want to clear things up a little...... I'm sorry if I came across as distant at the Christmas party.... Cause I guess I sort of was, there's a lot of stuff going on in regards to my family and I meant what I said..... It's worth doing right' Dawson cleared her throat 'yeah, you're right, I'll catch you later' she said giving him a slight smile leaving Casey asking himself why he did what he did at the Christmas party....he made up the decision that he would make it up for her when he thought the timing was right.
