Adhira
Fiddling with my fingers continuously, I was sitting on the sofa in my house.
It's been four days that I didn't go to work. It's been four days since Ritvik Sir asked me to marry him.
At first I thought that he was joking but then he made it very clear that he was serious. He also told me the reason he wanted to get married, it was because of some custody thing, but it was just too much for me to listen and understand.
I had no answer for it that day nor do I have it today, that's the reason I'm not able to even go to office.
It's too overwhelming for me and to top it up today is Ria's wedding. Which I'm not attending.
It's so frustrating that I can't attend my best friend's wedding.
Not because I don't want to. But because she doesn't want me there. She sent me an invitation at night yesterday, which makes my point more clear.
I was brought out of my thoughts when the doorbell rang.
It was strange because nobody really visited me, but I went and opened the door nonetheless. As I opened the door, I stood in my place, completely shocked. Because it was my boss, Mr. Ritvik Malhotra standing in front of me.
"Can I come in?" He asked and that's when I came to normal from my shocked state.
"Y... Yeah, sure sir." I said as I stepped on the side, giving him space to come in.
"Who gave you my address?" I asked, confused.
"Employee register." He said, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly.
"Nice house." He praised, but I knew he was just beating around the bush.
"Sir, why are you here? Don't you have a wedding to attend?" I asked, very well knowing that he had received the invitation a week ago.
"Oh yeah... Wedding. Yes. Even you have the same wedding to attend, right?" He said and I looked at him with a straight face trying to not let emotions get over me.
"See Adhira, I agree that whatever I said to you was a little weird, but that doesn't mean you don't enjoy the wedding of your best friend, just because even I'll be there." He said politely.
"No sir. You're mistaken, that's not the reason why I am not attending." I said, as filled out a glass of water for him.
"Then what's the matter? He asked with the same politeness, which is present in his voice every time he talks to me.
I took a deep sigh before saying, " Because I don't want to sabotage her happiness the day she should be the happiest person."
"What? Why would you think something like that?" He asked, flabbergasted.
Finding no reason, I told him the truth,
"Her fiance and family don't like me, she had already fought a lot with them, just so I could live with her. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have let her invite me, but she kept her friendship and invited me." I said and looked at him, who face kept getting shocked."She kept her friendship, I'll keep mine. I won't be the happiness destroyer." I said, and by the end of it, I actually had some tears in my eyes, but they never trolled down.
