No one's pov

Kol, Davina and Dove had made a stop at a service area where there was a small Italian restaurant so they could eat and take a little break from driving.

The three were sat in a small booth in the middle of the restaurant, they were looking at the menu or at least Davina and Kol were. Dove was too busy eyeing the big bag sitting next to Kol's feet.

Davina suddenly looked up from the menu and turned to her daughter and saw she was very concentrated on the bag so she turned to Kol and gave him a nudge making him look up from the menu.

"I spy with my little eye" she whispered motioning to Dove making Kol turn and he smirked seeing she was eyeing the bag. "Dove?" Davina called out making Dove tear her eyes away from the bag to look at her mother.

"What are you doing?" She asked with a smile "bag!" She exclaimed pointing to bag "nothing escapes you does it?" Kol teased with a smile as he leans down to grab the bag making Dove sit up straighter in her high chair.

Dove held her hands and started making grabby hands making Kol chuckle "just wait until we've ordered missy" he said before gently tapping her nose making her cutely scrunch up her nose before she folds her arms over her chest and pouts making Davina giggle "be patient, baby" she said before turning to Kol "you just had to bring the bag in with you, didn't you?" she asked shaking her head "it saves me having to go back to get it. I thought giving the surprise over dinner would be a nice idea" he responded as he placed a hand on her knee under the table "yeah well now she's not going to take her eyes off it until she gets whatever is in that bag" she retorts with a smile "well she'll just have to wait" Kol replied placing one of his arms on the back of the booth behind Davina as a rather happy waiter looking made their way over.

"Hello, my name is Jasper and I will be your waiter today. Are you ready to order or can I just get you drinks for now?" Jasper the waiter asked his eyes skipping over the three of them "we're ready to order thanks" Davina replied with a smile "splendid and what will we be having today?" he asked with a smile directed at Davina making Kol narrow his eyes and shift closer to her, pulling her closer to him while wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"I will have a small garlic bread and the chicken risotto with a diet coke and chicken nuggets and chips with a juice carton please" Davina said while looking at the menu and sparing a glance at her daughter who was kicking her feet.

"Okay, anything else you would like? Bottle of wine perhaps?" Jasper asked completely ignoring Kol who was burning holes into his head and mentally picturing himself beating him up with a baseball bat.

"No thank you but my boyfriend would like to make his order" Davina replied turning to Kol who smiled and kissed her on the cheek "thank you, gorgeous. Now I'd like the steak please with a glass of bourbon" Kol replied before shooting a fake smile at Jasper who half smiled back and just scribbled down the rest of the order onto his bad "very well, I shall go take your order in and I will be right back with your drinks" he said before walking away.

"Prick" Kol mumbled under his breath making Davina giggle and gently nudge him with her elbow before laying her head on his shoulder making him smile and kiss the top of her head.

He reached his hand under the table and squeezed her thigh making her giggle and lift her head up, raising an eyebrow "what?" he asked innocently making her shake her head "don't start" she warned "don't start what?" he asked with a small smirk "you know what" she replied before glaring at him as he squeezed her thigh again "oops" he muttered "oops my ass" she retorted making him chuckle as she leaned her head back on his shoulder.
