friday | march 22 | practice

"Ladies I love the hustle. Get a drink and we'll work on boxing out. Lord knows we'll need it the farther down we get."

We nod and run to the side to get some water. It hasn't been that intense of a practice because they want us ready for tomorrow. Which is fair so now we're just fine tuning.

That stay with the girls in Storrs was much needed and I now think I am ready to talk to Caitlin.

I'm not forgiving her by any means but at least the intense I want to punch a wall might be over.

Caitlin is by herself drinking water so I walk over to her.

"I'm coming to the apartment tonight. We need to talk. I'll hear you out."

Her eyes widen and she nods her head.

"Of course. Thank you."

I sigh and just walk away. It needs to happen anyways. For my own peace of mind and the teams. I know we'll all be better if we can at least talk about it.

I'm just still really hurt about everything. Maybe I'm being dramatic. Am I?

Coach blows her whistle and we make our way on the court.

"Okay. Since none of you have ever beaten her, try and post Willow up." My eyes widen because she's never had me do a drill like this against everyone. "She's our top girl down there and if you can't get around her, how do you expect to get around Cardoso? She's got four inches on our girl. Let's get at it."

Coach has a girl stand at the free throw and purposefully miss the shot. I'm down low and they're trying to get the ball.

Kate is up first. I will admit she does try very hard. But I'm stronger and taller and I easily get the ball.

"Run a lap." Shit if I wasn't being stared down by coach I would go easy on them. I didn't realize they'd run if they couldn't do it.

Gabbie is next and you'll never guess that outcome. Although she boxes out hard In just taller. Coach doesn't make her run since the height difference was the problem.

Everyone goes and it's finally Caitlin's turn. She comes up to me and takes her stance. I feel her back pressed against my front and my hand presses on her back. Got to make space somehow.

The ball is thrown up and I don't know if Caitlin decides not to try but I easily make room and grab the rebound.

I kind of give her a look and she shrugs her shoulder.

"Clark what the hell was that?"

"Nothing Coach. She got the edge on me."

"No you went weak. Run two laps. Now."

She starts running and it makes me want to trip her. If she's not even going to try in practice then what's all of this for?

I guard her like normal so why can't she do a fucking drill? Whatever.

"Good Walter's. Since you all seem to not be able to do this. Willow will be slowing down and teaching you all how to actually post up. Because it happens to her all the time and I trust that she can teach you ways that are better explained by her."

The coaches walk off and I'm kind of amazed that they just let me run this. It's kind of cool. When I'm done playing basketball I want to be a coach.

I run through the basics with them and they all look amazed. Which is funny because they've all been taught this multiple times throughout their basketball careers. It's an important thing and no coach wouldn't teach that.
