The lunch

I got out, opened the car door for Usagi and held my hand out to her. She reached for it hesitantly, she was still very tense, I noticed that immediately, because she literally clawed at my arm.

"Relax, Usagi, you're so tense," I whispered to her.
"Have you ever walked over a sandy surface in high heels? It's not that easy! Besides, you've gone over my head again without asking me!" she hissed at me.

I had to stifle a grin; she really was damn sexy when she was angry. We had barely stepped through the door when I saw her. Kaori was sitting alone at a table, looking at the menu in detail, which she should have memorized by now. I led Usagi towards her with mixed feelings and hoped that Kaori would at least stick to the agreement. This was officially a business lunch. I released myself from Usagi's grip and wanted to greet Kaori with a handshake, but I couldn't react that quickly because the witch had already jumped up and hugged me.

"Kaori, I'm glad to see you. Where did you leave Kunzite?" I said, forcing myself to be polite as usual. If I got into a fight with Kaori now, my cover would be blown, so I had to play along.

"Diamond, yes, it really has been too long. He should be here any minute, and who do you have with you?" she asked with similarly put-on friendliness and peered curiously past me at Usagi. I gave her a sharp, warning look, which she only acknowledged with a cheeky grin. That witch. I held out my hand to Usagi and led her closer to the table.

"Kaori, may I introduce you to Usagi," I said without taking my eyes off Kaori.

She mastered the rules of our world perfectly, her face simply shone with a flawless smile. She looked Usagi up and down with interest; for a moment, I thought she was about to do something rash, but then she stood up and held out her hand happily.

"Nice to meet you, Usagi. Have a seat," she warbled and made an inviting gesture.

Where was Kunzite? He couldn't leave me sitting here alone with the personification of evil.

Kaori folded her hands in front of her face. "Tell me about yourself, Usagi. What do you do for a living?"
Usagi took a deep breath. "I'm the assistant to Mr. Sato, the art dealer from Tokyo."

"Oh, yes. I actually know Mr. Sato. Did you meet at work?"

A slight blush played around Usagi's cheeks and her eyes flicked slightly over to me. "Yes, you could say that."

I said nothing and looked at the menu as I listened to their conversation; Kaori did seem to be following my lead. But I still had a strange feeling.

"And what do you do for a living?" Usagi asked, slightly unsettled.
"Oh, don't be so formal. I'm Kaori."
Usagi's body language gradually relaxed slightly. "Nice to meet you, Kaori, Usagi."

Kunzite finally joined us. His facial features were serious; something must have happened, I could see that immediately. However, he was clearly in his role as a businessman.

He pressed a kiss to Kaori's cheek. "Hello, my love, I hope you didn't have to wait too long," he said to Kaori, then held out his hand. "Diamond, good to see you." Finally, he turned to Usagi. "And who do we have here?"

"Kunzite, may I introduce you to Usagi?" I came to her rescue when I realized that she was just staring at him without making a sound.

There was hardly any sign of the relaxation that had just set in; her eyes were fixed on Kunzite. I nudged her from the side to get her out of her stupor and she finally took Kunzite's hand.
He just grinned. "Nice to meet you."
"We're already on a date," Kaori whispered to him.
"Good, then how has your stay on Davao been so far?" Kunzite asked Usagi, who looked to the side, embarrassed.
"Quite well. But I haven't seen much of this wonderful island yet."
