This night never ends

The way to the villa felt endless, and my tension just wouldn't subside. It was clearly wrong not to hand him over to the police immediately, but the big boss had spoken, so my hands were tied.

The car stopped right in front of the house. I pulled Sapphire out of the car and examined him closely. There was still no remorse on his face; he stared past me with a blank look. "Bring him inside. I'll be there shortly," I muttered to Massaru, who immediately secured Sapphire.

I took out my phone. Call Usagi, I needed to know how she was. It rang forever until I landed on her voicemail. Something was wrong.

I slid the phone back into my pocket and went inside. One of the housekeepers came towards me and handed me a towel. I briefly rubbed my hair. "We have dry clothes ready for you upstairs," she informed me. Only then did I realize that my wet shirt was clinging to me like a second skin. I nodded my thanks and went upstairs to change into the dry clothes. Then I sought out my father.

He was sitting in his office. I opened the door, and his sharp gaze immediately met mine. "I'm glad you found him," he began.

I clenched my hands into fists and held myself back from losing control again. My patience was wearing very thin today.

"Sapphire will be taken to Sweden next week; then this ordeal should be over," he explained casually, continuing to leaf through his documents. "And what are you planning to do with him until then?" I asked through gritted teeth. "We've prepared a room for him here. A specialist will see him starting tomorrow; he will be sedated so that he poses no further threat." "Father, he's already a walking danger. Haruka said he met that singer. What if he doesn't make it? Do you want to cover up for a murderer?"

His eyes narrowed into slits. He hated backtalk even more than incompetent staff.

"Diamond, he is my son just like you. If he gets linked to this, can you imagine the repercussions? How it would affect our reputation? No, Sapphire is going to Sweden; that is a decided matter. It will take a few weeks, and then everything will be forgotten." "If that's all, I will leave now," I said dryly, and he just nodded without looking up. I swallowed my anger. Arguing was pointless here. His word was law, so I turned on my heel and left his office.

Haruka and Massaru were both standing at the front door, waiting for me. "How is Ms. Tsukino? Have you been able to find out anything?" Their expressions darkened immediately. "What happened? Don't make me drag it out of you!" Massaru stepped forward. "Boss, the singer didn't make it. My contact at the clinic called a few minutes ago."

"Go to Usagi," I ordered Haruka. She couldn't be alone now.

Then I turned around and walked quickly to the room where I thought Saphir was. He could only be here, father had had this room renovated only a few months ago.
The key was on the outside. An irrepressible rage had taken hold of me again when I entered the room. Saphir was lying on a bed, his hands were handcuffed to the bedposts and there was still that malicious grin on his lips.

"Well, brother, what are you going to do now? You can't kill me, I'm under my father's protection."

Before he could speak any further, my fist shot into the pit of his stomach and squeezed the air out of his lungs. I grabbed his collar and pulled him up as far as I could. "Believe me, one day you'll wish you were dead. Just like that man whose life you ended tonight."

There wasn't the slightest trace of remorse on his face, but still that grin that drove me crazy. But he was still my brother. "Was that really necessary? You're a murderer now. Have you still not been able to bury your grudge after all these years? Sapphire, what happened to Rina..."
