The Witch and Her Schemes

The witch sat on the couch, waiting for my presence. Naturally, I took my sweet time, just to let her stew a little longer. What nerve she had, storming into my bedroom and then pretending to be my wife! She would pay for this; I didn't know how yet, but I craved revenge. I needed to put her in her place; she had clearly crossed a line. After all, I didn't just barge into her bedroom—mostly out of respect for Kunzite rather than any consideration for her. I finished buttoning my shirt cuffs and ran a hand through my hair.

Time for battle. Nothing else could describe what awaited me.

"So, my dear, what can I do for you? Did I forget our anniversary?" I asked her sarcastically, sinking onto the couch opposite her. I didn't even try to hide my annoyance; she could feel unwelcome here for all I cared.

Kaori laughed, but it was a shrill, grating laugh that got on my nerves instantly. "Forgive me, but the opportunity she presented was too perfect, and you should have seen your face. I've rarely seen you so speechless."

"Yes, very funny. I'll laugh later. Tell me why you're here," I replied, trying to maintain my patience, which was already wearing thin.

I knew the moment I asked her why she was here. There weren't many topics that interested her, and to my misfortune, my love life was one of them.

"You need to come back to Tokyo."

I raised an eyebrow, waiting for more details.

"You've been away long enough, avoiding me and the rest of the family. You've buried yourself in work and women," she began, and her choice of words made me smirk.

"Get to the point. You're using too many words again, and my time is precious," I growled, annoyed.

"Oh, come on, don't act like you have anything important to do today. I know your schedule. You just have to go to the opening later, and of course, I'll be accompanying you."

"No," I replied shortly, hoping to deter her.

"Oh yes, we will represent the family together at the final opening; it will be wonderful. Trust me," she sang.

"Kaori, I wouldn't trust you if you were the last person on earth. Spit it out, why are you here? The sooner we clear this up, the sooner I can get rid of you," I said irritably, feeling like we were going in circles.

"You want the truth?" she asked with a sly smile.

"Yes, I already said that," I replied, my gaze making it clear I wouldn't tolerate any more games or evasions.

"You're a coward," she said bluntly, tilting her head. "You hide and avoid all your problems. This can't go on. We're flying back together tomorrow, and then you'll face your problems."

"Kaori, my only problem is sitting right in front of me. I'm fine. Stop interpreting things you know nothing about. Just leave me alone," I replied with a deep sigh, inwardly hoping she would finally leave.

She wasn't so easily shaken off and continued probing. "How many women have there been since you left?"

"No idea, who counts that?" I responded disinterestedly, trying to ignore her provocations.

"Diamond, you were different with Usagi, almost human... And now? Look at you, the Prince of Darkness is back and worse than ever. How long has she been begging you for a conversation?"

Bullseye. Kaori stood up without another word. Only when she had her hand on the doorknob did she turn back. "I'll pick you up for the opening, and tomorrow we're flying back to Tokyo together."

Great. The door slammed shut with a loud crash behind her. How I hated her dramatic entrances, everything in me rebelled against her being here.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Kunzite's number. It rang only a few times before he picked up.

"What the hell were you thinking? Why did you sic your wife on me? I told you I'm fine," I shouted into the phone, barely controlling my frustration.

Kunzite's laughter echoed through the phone. "Diam, honestly, I didn't even know she was there. But it's nice to hear she's found you."

"Found me? Kunz, she stormed into my bedroom, kicked the woman out of my bed, pretended to be my wife, and then called me a coward."

"And what am I supposed to do? I'm in Tokyo, I have a board meeting soon. You'll manage. Just make sure you both get back here in one piece."

Hung up. How I hated when people hung up before the conversation was over. I had no choice but to accept my fate for the evening. I finished getting ready, put on my cufflinks, adjusted my tie, and she was already back.

"Are you ready?" she chirped with exaggerated cheerfulness.

I snorted, and before I knew it, she had hooked her arm through mine, and we took the elevator down to the lobby. The party was already in full swing, and Kaori automatically switched to her business mode. This version of her I could tolerate best.
Of course, I immediately took the first opportunity to shake her off and put as much distance between us as possible. An American business partner struck up some small talk, and I left the witch with him while I headed to the bar. That was easier than I thought.

I sat at the bar and watched her for a while, then ordered a tray of shots. Should I reappear on her radar, I'd tolerate her best with a decent buzz. After some time, a black-haired woman took the seat next to me, and I slid her one of the shots, which she accepted with a smile.

It didn't take long before several more women gathered around us. It was no secret who I was, and I enjoyed being fawned over and let the alcohol flow. Whether and how many of them I would take upstairs later was still uncertain, but I knew I wouldn't be spending the night alone. I just had to make sure Kaori no longer had access to my suite. I could do without another performance like earlier.

One of the women suddenly took the initiative and made the first move, her hand traveling from my shoulder to my neck. Her tight blue dress clung to her curves like a second skin, and she leaned her head closer to my ear. I placed my hand on her neck, pulling her closer and kissing her demandingly. She immediately responded, and before I knew it, she was straddling my lap. Her hips teased as our tongues danced. She wanted it, and I felt my arousal growing, knowing we wouldn't be staying here much longer. We only briefly pulled apart, then suddenly a second woman joined in.

Oh, damn, it was hot watching them kiss in front of me while one still sat on my lap, swaying her hips seductively. We were caught up in the moment, a haze of lust.

Two hands settled on my shoulders from behind, and I thought things couldn't get better. But when I tilted my head back, I found myself staring into the witch's fiery eyes.

"Ladies, I'm truly sorry, but I need to steal this charming man away to make sure he doesn't do anything foolish," she announced theatrically. "After all, his pregnant girlfriend is waiting for him in Tokyo."

My heart skipped a beat. What had she just claimed? Pregnant girlfriend? Was she talking about Usagi? My mind recoiled at the thought. It couldn't be true. Haruka would have mentioned something so important. Besides, as far as I knew, Usagi was on birth control.

Kaori used my paralysis to gently push the woman who had been on my lap aside. Then she led me to a quiet corner near the elevator.

"Was that serious? Is Usagi really pregnant?" I finally managed to ask after recovering from the initial shock.
Kaori's expression was unreadable, probably because of the alcohol. Damn, how much had I drunk? Usagi couldn't be pregnant... Could she?

"No idea, you tell me. You would know if you finally talked to her. Stop screwing your soul out. You're not twenty anymore! How long has it been since Davao? Seven months? And how long since you last saw or spoke to Usagi? Probably five months, right?"

If it was true, I had to go to her. I brushed past Kaori, ordered a taxi before leaving the hotel, and arranged for the jet.
