can also do this:
turn the lights off
and then bring a candle.
you cannot see them flip the switch
or have no choice but to forget it.
you can't stop praising them
for the warmth of the wax
or the bright of the burning flame.
even when you realize it was they
who made it dark in the first place
you'll convince yourself:
at least they brought a candle
unlike others who only made it dark
and hurt me in it as i blindly sought the door.
dear friend, you won't be able to unlove them
unless you unlow yourself enough to get to the lightswitch.
dear friend, you have to wax like the moon,
not like wings in their little promise of sun.
