I couldn't believe it.

This was really fucking happening. After six years of hating Carter with everything in me, here I was about to marry him and spend the rest of my life with him.

The pressure of being his wife didn't hit me until this morning, but now that I agreed to have the wedding today, the realization was weighing on me like a ton of bricks.

A ton of bricks that suffocated me with dread and uncertainty.

What will happen when he finds out there's more to my story? Will he freak out when he learns about Scarlett? He'll have to meet her eventually and I wasn't prepared for that day at all.

What if he didn't accept her as his daughter?

"Come on Angel, I would like to marry you today," Carter announced with a chuckle as he entered my bathroom

His words interrupted my raging thoughts and I forced a smile as I continued to complete my makeup and looked at him through my mirror. A blush appeared across my cheeks as we held eye contact for a little and he smirked before leaning himself against the doorframe.

"Bellissima," He whispered in Italian as he looked at me up and down

My blush deepened at his thick accent and I finally placed my brush down to give him my attention. Noticing my actions, his smirk grew and he pushed himself off of the wall to approach me from behind.

My eyes fluttered down on their own as he wrapped his arms around me securely, his muscles taut in the white buttoned down dress shirt he wore. The shirt clung to his arms and chest beautifully and his navy blue slacks added to his look and complimented my navy blue dress perfectly.

Instead of a royal white wedding, we decided to wear navy blue with accents of white and gold. My dress had thin straps that did a decent job of containing my breasts and was long enough to hold a slit through its right side to drape over my right leg.

My toes and fingernails were painted white with specks of gold and my open toed heels were white and held together by white crisscrossed laces that surged up my ankles and legs.

My hair was curly and pinned in a half up half down style with curls framing my face and neck and my makeup look consisted of a gold shimmery eyeshadow that subtly mixed in with a deep blue one. The colors reminded me of a dreamy midnight sky adorned with wishful stars painted over a blank canvas and I silently thanked Carter for giving me a reason to believe in wishful dreams.

I didn't have one six years ago.

"Fuck I can't wait to marry you," He whispered in my ear as he moved my curly hair over my shoulder to place soft yet dominating kisses there

"I can't either," I admitted as I leaned backwards into his embrace lovingly

Shit he was making it hard to concentrate.

"Carter," I finally mumbled as heat coursed through me and shamelessly overwhelmed my lower body

"Yes baby?" He asked as he continued to trail gentle kisses down to my collarbone
