In 15 minutes, I was home. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins with every turn I took, and it only made me realize how much I was fueled by anger.

There were many things I handled in my life, but none of them hurt me like this.

I pulled up by the entrance of the driveway and instantly locked eyes with Raymond and several other guards who were posted in front of my front door.

My eyebrows furrowed on their own as I parked, but before I could roll my window down to say anything, Raymond walked down the concrete slab and met me at the window.

He cleared his throat before nodding towards me, "Good morning Mrs. Evans. How are you this evening?" His tone grew hesitant with every word and my eyes narrowed in on his

"I'm fine, why are you and several other guards here?" I deadpanned before questioning him

He hesitated once again and a smile creeped across my face when I finally realized the situation here.

"Oh Raymond. How stupid do you think I am?" I asked with a light laugh

"Mrs. Evans-,"

"Don't," I interrupted him before turning to make eye contact with him again

"If you wanted to keep me out of my own house to protect my mother and Jasmine, you could've just said so," I finished with a smile that didn't reach my eyes

"Really?" He asked with obliviousness

It was almost adorable.

"Of course Raymond. You've been a friend to me for so long, why would I do anything to jeopardize my loyalty to you, hmm?" I asked plainly, making his eyebrows furrow with uncertainty

He didn't know whether to trust me or question me and I loved it.

Before he could respond though, I hovered my foot over the gas and switched the gearshift from park to drive.

"But my loyalty to them has expired," I announced before slamming on the gas and swerving the steering wheel to hurtle towards the guards who stood in front of the front door.

Alarmed, they jumped out of the way, allowing me to stop the car a centimeter in front of the door.

"Mrs. Evans!" Raymond called after me, but I ignored him

Within two seconds, I had reached behind me to the floor of my backseat and grabbed the baseball bat I kept there for emergencies and opened my door.

Everyone's eyes widened at the bat in my hands and when I pointed it toward them, they flinched and raised their hands in surrender.

"Wise choice," I purred before I lowered the bat and walked around the hood of my car and grabbed my key to unlock the door

The door opened and immediately I saw Jasmine pacing the room, twirling the ends of her hair.

Her movements halted at the sound of the door opening and her eyes looked up to me with fright and nervousness.

In an instant, I felt every emotion and the fuel drove me to clench the bat tighter and march towards her with powerful steps.
