chapter 89: Magic knights from Hage village

After being dropped off by Nozel, Asta and Yuno arrived just in time in Hage village to save Nash and sister Lily. "From your appearance it looks like the two of you are magic knights like the owner of this body," the man from the purple orcas said. Like members of the royal knights along with other members of the magic knights his body had been taken over by an elf. He attacked the people Hage village with position plant magic.

Some of the people were covered in purple burns. Along with the priest who had helped raised Asta and Yuno, who was currently lying on the ground. "I wonder will you be infected by the poison or be skewered," the man from the purple orcas said.

"No matter poison plant magic, softeners smoke," he said as smoke came out of the large plant he was standing on. But then three large vines grew out of the ground behind Asta and Yuno. "Softeners thorns just to be sure," he said before the vines shot forward.

"Lets go," said Asta as he jumped towards the smoke.

"Right," said Yuno as he jumped towards the vines. Asta cut through the smoke while Yuno used his wind magic to cut through the vines.

"They're so strong now," Nash said looking surprised by their strength.

"Yes," Sister Lily said smiling as she watched Asta and Yuno fight. "It may have been sometime since they left but this is still their home," she said thinking back to when they got their first letters from Asta and Yuno after they left for the magic knights entrance exam. They were cheering for Yuno when they found they got in, at first they thought Asta didn't get in and would be coming home. But then sister Lily who had been reading Astas letter surprised them when she revealed Asta had gotten in as well.

The priest and Nash were surprised but in the end they were happy. Ever since that day Yuno and Astas letters would be a treat for them. Asta wrote about the time when his first mission was taking down boars. But then they ran into some enemy's who were attacking a village and fought them. They were able to stop them but they couldn't save all the villagers. Asta wrote he knew there was still a long way to become the wizard king.

Then there was the time when he wrote about when they met the wizard king. Along with the battle in the capital. Yunos letter was shorter then Astas. Sister Lilys knew the two boys were now part of a bigger world outside Hage village. While they were surprised at first to learn Asta was dating Noelle. They then were in for a bigger surprise when they learned Yuno was dating as well.

Flashback:

"Wow Yunos got a girlfriend," said one of the little girls. She along with sister Lily, the priest and the other kids were reading Yunos letter.

"Wow amazing, I wonder who it could be," said the priest.

"Didn't he mention a girl back when he sent us the letter about the battle in the capital?" Nash asked.

"Yes it seems shes the same girl from back then," Sister Lily said smiling before looking at the letter. "Her name is Mimosa Vermillion, hmm," she said looking like she was thinking.

"Vermillion that sounds familiar," said the priest thinking as well before sister Lily spoke up.

"Oh that's right, Vermillions one of the royal houses," she said while the priest looked surprised.

"So theyre both dating royalty," he said.

After that they got a letter from Asta saying he was going to the underwater temple. But then after that his letters stopped coming for a long time. Eventually a letter with a lot of pages from Asta arrived. He explained that in his battle in the underwater temple his arms were greatly injured. They had been hit with hex magic and when Asta went to go see a doctor about his arms. He was told he would never be able to write a letter again, along with not being able to swing a sword. Noelle had offered to write a letter to them for him but he didn't accept since he wanted to write them himself. Because he was determined to fix his arms.

But then he did when he was brought to the forest of witches. Where the queen of witches herself healed his arms. After that he wrote about the Star festival. The first thing he mentioned was that he and Noelle said they love each other. Then he and Yuno were rewarded at the ceremony. Being the top two magic knights out of the people who had only recently joined. Asta and Yuno mentioned they had come so far.

Asta and Yuno continued to fight their way to the man from the purple orcas. "Some day," they both said as they sent out an attack. "Ill become the wizard king," they both thought when Asta heard the children.

"Please father hang on, stay with us," the children said. Asta looked shocked before remembering something. Remembering when he was able to undo the magic on Rebbecas younger brother. Along with the eye of the midnight sun members that were captured.

"If the demon slayer sword worked on them, it should work on this," he thought looking serious. "Yuno I gotta take care of something are you okay with this?" He asked.

"Yeah I can take this guy out even with my eyes closed," said Yuno looking serious.

"Right thanks," said Asta before running over to the priest.

"Asta, he got hurt trying to protect us," the children said.

The priest groaned in pain before looking at Asta. "Asta look at much you've changed," he said. "I'm glad I get to see you," he said smiling.

"Don't talk like that, ill save you," said Asta before tapping the sides of his head with the sword. But instead of healing him he just groaned in pain. "No, it should be working," Asta said looking annoyed.

He then looked at the priests hands and noticed the burns there. "This isnt good, the magic is already running its course," he thought looking annoyed.

The priest was then thinking back on the past. "Asta and Yuno, both left here on the same day," he thought. "Both of them dreaming to become the wizard king and then going on to join the magic knights," he thought. Remembering the day they left the village.

He opened his eyes enough to see Asta with a worried look on his face. "Asta I'm so proud of the man you've become," he said before placing a hand on Astas face. "Please protect them for me," he said before his hand fell.

"Father," the children said as they cried. Asta looked annoyed before speaking.

"No you cant go, you've got to see me through, all of us," he said looking down. Remembering when he was younger. How the priest looked out for him and even took him flying.

"There has to be a way," he thought when his grimoire floated next to him. The book opened and the pages turned. Asta looked surprised as a diffent sword came out of the pages.

"That sword," Asta thought recognizing the other sword Licht had used in their battle. But its color was now like his other anti magic swords. The sword was then out of the pages.

Asta looked at the sword surprised. "If i use it, will it help," he thought before grabbing the swords handle. He then looked shocked as he saw flashes of a past. A man looking surprised by a sight in front of him. A place on fire and Licht.

"Ahh," Asta said sounding like he was in pain.
