Chaerin was on the road.
No car, houses or gas stations near, not even the tiniest bit civilisation was miles away.

Just her, the sandy road and the wind drifting through her hair.

And Wonwoo, who was talking about programming ever since they got into the car.

During the call with Seungcheol, Wonwoo located his position and wrote it down for her. Now, almost half an hour later she was still on her way to them.

In the middle of nowhere.

While driving her thoughts kept drifting to the call.
Seungcheol, who always made it seem like he hated Mingyu with a burning passion, sounded so desperate and helpless. The fear, that he might loose Mingyu was audible through the phone.

She hasn't met this side of him before, but found it beautiful.

About fifteen minutes later, she arrived at her destination. A old, shabby diner with a couple of cars parked in front of them, one of them being Mingyu and Seungcheol.

The two were sitting on the hood of Mingyu's car, shoving down burger, fries and Soda. It didn't seem like one of them was near death and the other one having a extreme panic attack.

"Are you guys kidding me?" Chaerin yelled from far, as she got out of her car to walk towards them. Both heads turned by the voice of their boss.

"Why isn't anyone of you answering my calls?" She kept on scolding them, her way too big flannel wrapped tightly around her shivering body by her arms.

Mingyu looked at Seungcheol, who looked down at his burger.

"You were almost dying an hour ago and now you're shoving salty french fries and fatty burgers down your throat?"

The worries were audible in Chaerin's voice before her throat clogged and her voice broke.

"We dodged a police control-" Mingyu tried to say, his voice still raspy and his throat sore.

Chaerin rolled her eyes: " I dont give a fuck, Mingyu."

She really did not care in that moment, later on ? Absolutely. But not right now. Chaerin was a very empathic soul, when she heard Seungcheol's voice on the phone, it felt like she was in the car.

"And i'd like to add that Fast Food is not contributing to a good blood sugar level." Wonwoo said, standing politely behind Chaerin as Seungcheol and Mingyu gave him death stares.

"Why are you even hear?" Mingyu asked, head hanging low while Wonwoo got closer to engage in the conversation.

Chaerin was still mad, her eyebrows drawn together, arms crossed as she stood there kicking tiny stones in the sand. She couldn't believe that this major and scary situation was just brushed under the carpet as if nothing happened.

Seungcheol was watching every move in silence, he didn't care about Mingyu and Wonwoo almost fighting right now. He just eyed her, feeling bad for the way he handled the aftermath.

"You hungry?" he asked while pointing to the remaining burger that Mingyu couldn't finish.

She stood up straight, looked at him briefly before asking something: "Are you really asking me if I'm hungry?"

Seungcheol stopped chewing, looked down at the burger before shrugging his shoulders. Chaerin huffed before turning around to walk back to her car, but this time Seungcheol wouldn't just let her get her way.

He followed her, slipped on the passenger seat as she sat behind the steering wheel.

"Get out" She demanded.

"I am not getting out before you explain your anger." Seungcheol said in a stern tone, slamming the door close, his body turned towards her as he waited for an explanation.

But of course, Chaerin didn't stay with him in the car but exited and started walking behind the vehicle. Followed by Seungcheol.

"Chaerin." He stopped her.

" I am mad because you two act like Mingyu wasn't near death an hour ago. I heard you through the phone, your desperate and helpless voice, you were scared as shit to loose him and now your feeding him french fries like he doesn't have this disease?" She finally snapped.

"And on top of that no one's answering my calls, prior to his collaps and even after it. You could've called me Seungcheol but instead you chose to drive to this shabby diner!"

Her chest was rising and falling heavily, tears welling up in her eyes as she tried to blink them away. Seungcheol's look changed from mad and confused to sad and hurt.

"My dad might've been this cold, egocentric fucking asshole but i'm not like him. I care about my people." She said, now in more calm tone.

But before Seungcheol could collect his thoughts and give her an proper apology, she broke their eyecontact.

"You can stay as long as you want here, i'm leaving now." she said as she walked past him, brushing his shoulder. The only thing he heard her call was Wonwoo's name,.

While Wonwoo was in headlock by Mingyu, he somewhat freed himself and got quickly into Chaerin's car as they drove off.

Leaving Seungcheol and Mingyu alone with the beautiful sunset.
