The office was silent, even the rythmic ticking of the big clock on the wall was heard. His own thoughts were getting louder with each minute passing.

Mingyu's bad conscience was slowly ripping him apart.

He was sitting in Chaerin's office, feet on her desk as his eyes were glued to the telephone in front of him, getting every call from his boss and Seungcheol. His fingers tingling to answer the phone and possibly help them, but he couldn't.

Even if he wanted to.

"Oh, don't act like you feel bad." a familiar voice appeard, ripping him out of his thoughts.

A pair of beautiful legs were stepping out of the shadow, her arms crossed in front of er chest as she sat down on the leather chair. She knew how Mingyu felt, that he didn't initially wanted this.

But she also knew that the burning hate in him became bigger with each day, and she needed someone  like that.

"Don't even get your hopes up that one of them might need you to do anything." She sang, leaning back to expose her cleavage.

Mingyu darted his eyes towards her, his lips pursed as he thought about what she said, slowly believing what she was telling him for over an hour now. That woman really had the ability to creep into people'S minds and take over the control.

Because suddenly, Mingyu felt like he saw his best friend with completely different eyes.

"Seungcheol has aways been jealous of you, your abilities and your strength." She began once again.

"I'm aware that e didn't like me to begin with, it's nothing new." Mingyu interrupted her brabble, being slightly annoyed by now.

Like he said, Mingyu was well aware of Seungcheol's hatred towards him during their trainee days. But that was years ago, he grew to him by now.

Right ?

Mingyu never had to doubt his best friends ulterior motives, up until now.

"Why would he do that ?" Mingyu asked, more to himself.

Jia got up, hands prepped on her hips as she walked towards Mingyu. She leaned against the wooden desk, ushering his feet off before opening her red painted lips again:

"Seungcheol dislikes you, to him you're the biggest threat in here. Didn't you notice how he took Beomseok's retirement ?" She began.

It's true, Beomseok's retirement didn't affect Seungcheol as much a Mingyu or other's in the company. It almost seemed like he was relieved, relieved that Mingyu wasn't going to step up.

"And why do you want to do that ?" He asked, leaned forward.

Jia took a deep breath, a smile creeping on her face :" He's fucking her, i know it. And i don't like when someone takes what i love."

Mingyu wasn't quite convinced yet, not buying the act that Jia was putting on for him. He's been there whenever her and Seungcheol had been broken up and got back together. He knew how many times Seungcheol had cried because of her, the pain he had to endure whenever Jia felt like sleeping with strangers.

Seungcheol and her were not a healthy couple, they fought a lot and were both quite toxic.

"Call me whenever you've decided." Jia said, grabbing her purse and walking out of the office.

As soon as the door fell into the lock, he release he del breath. This encounter was more than just uncomfortable, he already felt like he had just betrayed Seungcheol.

Even though he didn't agree to anything yet.

The office was dipped in a comfortable silence for not too long before a quick knock disturbed the peace.

Wonwoo appeared after Mingyu asked him to come in, having a quite confused look on his face. A laptop was tucked under his right arm, a bunch of cables in his left hand.

"You're here." He stated, standing beside the door.

Mingyu's eyelids lowered as he looked at Wonwoo: "So are you."

"I'm here because I've coded a program that processes all of the applications, products and data. It's on here and I need to install it on Miss Yoon's devices." He explained, pushing his glasses up with his middle finger. "What are you doing here ? In your boss's office."

Wonwoo was a quiet person, sure. But whenever someone tried to talk over him, making him feel like he wasn't worth anything, he's capable of returning the same energy.

"I'm supposed to take over all her responsibilities while she's out of the country." Mingyu crossed his arms and gave Wonwoo a cocky smile.

He knew that Wonwoo couldn't do anything about it, since he's also half his size.

"Right, and you don't have your own office two doors away to hold conferences with your colleagues long-time girlfriend." Wonwoo returned the smile and walked over to place down the cables and laptop.

But before Wonwoo could turn around and leave again, Mingyu grabbed him by his arm, pulling him close: "Keep your mouth shut and your nose out of my business, you're just a stupid little nerd. Dont think that I won't beat your ass anymore, just because we're grown up."

Mingyu and Wonwoo do have a backstory.
Back when they were in high school, both attended the same class. Wonwoo for the first time and Mingyu for the second, he's never been an ace in terms of school.

He was considered popular, handsome and perfect in his school, of course he had to be an bully aswell.

Ever since Wonwoo refused to do his homework once, Mingyu had not once missed the opportunity to expose and make fun of him.

And whenever Wonwoo talked back, accidentally or on purpose, he got beat up by Mingyu and his friends. Sometimes it ended just in him having a free bruises or in Wonwoo ending up in hospital.

"We're not eighteen anymore, you can't do shit." Wonwoo ripped his arm out of Mingyu's grip before walking away.

Leaving Mingyu perplexed in the silent office.
