Liu frowned seeing Y/n tucked in the large tree roots. D/n had been next to her, cooing and nuzzling her. The other nightfuries were fluttering above them, staring at them curiously.

"Go talk to her."

Liu jumped and turned to find Ashaw.

"I, what?"

"Sorry, didn't mean to spook you," Ashaw apologize rubbing the back of his neck. "But you should go talk to her."

Liu looked back to Y/n. She hadn't spoke much since getting here. Then again, it had only been a week. She would need time. They all would.

Salem and Cherry hadn't left the other. Ashaw had been close to Y/n and Liu, but if he wasn't with them he was in his shared room. Liu hadn't been much better. He kept close to Y/n and gave her space, but she never strayed from his eye sight unless she was seeking privacy. None really liked parting too far from the others.

"Why don't you?" Liu asked, his eyes flicking to Ashaw curiously. "I mean, you're her big brother."

Ashaw smiled lightly shaking his head. It was true, but as was the standing facts of how long Liu had known her.

"And you're her best friend. You two grew up together," Ashaw shifted, his expression slipping into a more somber look. "You're more like family to her than I am, and a part me is happy she has you in her life. Especially since I couldn't be."

Liu noticed Ashaw gave him a kind smile before turning away.

"I heard it's a beautiful night tonight," Ashaw called over his shoulder. "A flight would be nice."

Liu blinked. He was about to ask if Ashaw would've wanted to join, but he paused. Ashaw's dragon was gone. As was Salem's. Liu felt his hear drop, but his angry had risen.

How dare they kill their dragons. Even if it was only Ashaw and Salem that had died, Cherry's dragon had left recently, chasing storms. Moonstone and D/n were the only ones still here. It wasn't fair. It wasn't right.

Taking a breath to calm his nerves, Liu walked over to Y/n and slowly sat down infront of her, giving them both space as he had.

"Hey."

Y/n blinked and looked up at him. Liu's chest ached. She looked so lifeless. As if the light in her eyes was blow out and her body was all that remained. Rather, what was left.

Her arms had thinned. Her stomach hadn't extended at all. Her cheeks were still sunk in. She didn't look alive at all, and he worried.

"Hi.."

Y/n's eyes drifted away from his after she spoke. It hurt to look at him, her brothers, or Cherry. It pained her. They looked just as bad as she had. It was a harsh reminder of their captivity.

It was quiet as they stay there in the roots. D/n had taken to laying by them, seemingly just as saddened as they were. Things weren't going to be easy. Everyone had a lot to process, and they had to heal. It would just take time.

"Do you wanna go flying?" Liu asked softly, trying to smile for her. "I heard it's beautiful out tonight."

Liu's smile grew and his eyes brightened seeing Y/n's eyes light up again. He found her.

"Come on, promise it'll be fun," Liu grinned standing up before offering his hand. "Some fresh air will do us good. No need for us to hide down here like mole people."

Y/n repressed a snort.

"Mole people?"

Liu blinked and Y/n jumped. Glancing over they found Ares smiling at them.
