A/n: Sorry it took me so long to come back to this book. I had been struggling with inspiration and the struggles of life. I mean when you work somewhere for three years and have five different boss and three different district mangers over that span of time, only to be disrespect with only being able to work 12 hours a or less a week is very stressful. Doesn't help when you don't have a good relationship with the boss or assistant manager.
Anyways, I apologize, and I can't promise monthly updates currently. I can assure that the book will be finished in time. I just, don't know if I'll be able to finish by December.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

The skys over Vanaheim rumbled, the smell of the coming rain apparent. The dark grey skies mirrored Hiccup and Toothless's sadness and pain. The thunder rumbled again as the first drops of rain came splattering down. Hiccup stood silently beside Toothless, their eyes fixed on the serene resting place of the fallen dragon, D/n. With the Sentinels help, D/n had his own nest to rest in for eternity.

Hiccup took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. A moment Y/n should've been here for. Hiccup's heart cracked as he stood before D/n's final resting place. A place he knew he'd have to bring Y/n too. A place he would bring her so she could find closure.

Hiccup briefly wondered if she even knew what happened to her dragon. Hiccup's shoulders shook at the thought, but he was quick to compose himself as Toothless cooed lightly. A few of the elderly and sick dragons had approached to join Hiccup and Toothless in mourning. Any death of a dragon was a somber one, and one shared amongst all species.

"There do I see my father, my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers. There do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. They do call to me," Hiccup started, keeping his voice steady. "They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla. Where the brave may live forever."

Toothless crooned and stared at D/n's lifeless form. Hiccup's heart ached, wishing this wasn't true. He wasn't even sure how things fell apart so fast. It seemed like just yesterday he and Y/n had officially became a couple. That D/n was okay.

Now, D/n was dead and Y/n was missing. Hiccup's heart ached between his desires to find Y/n, and let Toothless mourn. Hiccup knew what Y/n would've wanted, and started speaking again.

"D/n was more than just a dragon," Hiccup started, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "He was a friend, a protector, and a symbol of the bond we share with these magnificent creatures."

Toothless nudged Hiccup gently, his eyes reflecting the same sorrow. The bond between rider and dragon was unspoken, yet deeply understood. Hiccup placed a hand on Toothless's head, and Toothless leaned into him. Both supporting the other, giving Hiccup the strength to continue.

"As we lay D/n to rest, we honor his bravery and his spirit," Hiccup continued, his gaze never leaving D/n's still form. The reality of D/n being well and truly gone hurt Hiccup more. "He will always be remembered, not just for his strength, but for the love and loyalty he showed. His memory will live on forever in our hearts and mind."

Hiccup's eyes where wet as the rain started to pour and the thunder rumbled louder. Slowly, Hiccup looked up to the sky, the dark grey lighted up as lightly flickered behind the clouds, followed by the should of thunder.

"Odin, All-Father, guide D/n to the great halls of Valhalla, where he may soar among the honored warriors and dragons who have gone before him," Hiccup prayed. "Freyja, goddess of love and beauty, may you embrace his spirit and grant him peace."

Taking a breath, Hiccup stepped back to wipe his eyes. Toothless looked to Hiccup concerned before he move forward, near D/n's nest. His feathers were still loose, and as the rain poured, his feathers seemed to fall off and scatter by Toothless paws. Toothless whined lightly as the thunder roared above him. Growling lightly, Toothless raised his head a mournful roar resonating with the coming storm.
