The soft chirping of birds outside the window woke me up, my eyes opening slowly as I let out a yawn and lifted my hand up to my face, trying to rub some of the sleepiness off. After I felt a little more awake, I looked around the room I was in.
Right, I was at the hospital after fighting Nomus with Endeavour and Hawks, and then Dabi showed up... I glanced down at my arm, part of my neck, my shoulder and down to just below my elbow covered in bandages. I sighed and looked to the side where my phone was and I grabbed it.
The time read 7 am, so class for today hadn't started quite yet. I sat up on the bed and grabbed my burnt jacket, it was in mostly good shape despite being burnt. I was about to wrap it around my shoulders when the door began sliding open. Looking over I made eye contact with Hawks, who I could see had fewer feathers than he did when we met, but more than he had the last time I saw him, which was in the ambulance on the way here.
"Hey, kiddo, how are you feeling?" I smiled at him and shrugged with my good shoulder.
"A little crisp," Hawks chuckled at my joke and walked in, leaving the door slightly open behind. "How are you, Hawks? And Endeavour?"
"I'm okay, slowly growing my feathers back, and Endeavour-san is out of danger, the doctor said he'll be staying in observation for the next few days until he's fully recovered," I nodded, glad to hear that neither of the heroes had suffered fatal injuries, "I wanted to..." I watched him scratch the back of his head as he paused, "Apologize for getting you involved yesterday, despite knowing you're just a kid..."
"It wasn't your fault, Hawks, and we saved people's lives together, didn't we?" Hawks smiled at him and nodded. He was about to say something else, when the door moved slightly and Aizawa-sensei walked in, "Sensei..." He had a paper in his hand, probably a release form.
"A nurse is gonna come change your bandages and then we can leave, kid, you're off school for today," he glanced over at Hawks and the winged hero bowed his head at Aizawa, who bowed back but a little less than the blond. Right after that, the same nurse from yesterday walked in and walked to my injured side, and began removing my bandages gently, making sure I was okay the entire time, which I was, surprisingly.
I had heard first and second-degree burns hurt like hell, but third-degree didn't because by then the nerves were completely burnt, so there was no pain receptor. I wondered if it was medicine or a quirk's doing that numbed the pain.
With my new bandages, I was allowed to stand up and I reached for my (shoes/boots), left next to the bed. I put them on and stood up, making sure I wasn't leaving anything behind.
"Well, I'll be keeping Endeavour some company, old man gets lonely by himself," Hawks said with a cheeky grin as he lifted his hand as a goodbye, "It was nice meeting you, Paralyze, despite the circumstances." And like that, he left before I could respond.
"Well, let's go, I have a class to give in less than an hour."

The ride to the dorms in Aizawa's car was nice and quiet, at some point he asked if I was hungry, to which my stomach answered before I could, so he stopped at a convenience store and we got out of the car, he allowed me to pick whatever I wanted, but I didn't want to abuse sensei's kind gesture, so I just grabbed an instant ramen, some onigiri, a water bottle and a candy bar.
We sat at the tables in the store and silently ate our breakfast. Sensei got a black coffee and a muffin with a shit ton of icing on top, but I decided not to comment on the fact that Aizawa may have a sweet tooth.
Back in the car, I ate my candy bar and spaced out staring out the window as the buildings went by, and a few minutes later, we arrived at the 1-A dorm.
"Go rest, and don't force yourself, kid," I gave Aizawa-sensei a small smile and nodded, opening the door and placing a foot out, before turning back to him.
"I will, have a good day, sensei," I said and walked, I was about to close the door when I heard him call my name.
"(L/n)," I leaned down to look at him, "You did great out there, and I'm glad you're okay," I blinked for a moment before responding.
"Saving people is a hero's job," I showed sensei a wide smile, and he smiled back at me, although not as big and bright, "Could you say hi to the others for me, sensei?" He nodded and I backed away, closing the door and watched as he started the car and began driving all the way around the dorm campus.
I sighed as I was left by myself in front of the dorm and I turned around, slowly making my way to the door.
I turned the knob and pushed in, stepping inside. The quietness of the place was weird, it felt off being here all by myself, so the first thing I did was walk over to the couches and grab the remote off the coffee table, turning the TV on to have some noise in the background.
Letting a breath I made my way to the elevator and headed up to my room.
When I walked in, the covers of my bed were crumpled, making me frown and I walked closer, soon feeling the subtle smell of burnt caramel coming off of my comforter and pillow. I smiled to myself, so Katsuki slept on my bed last night... He must've been worried sick.
I definitely have to make it up to him for scaring him that bad.
Returning to the reason why I walked in here, I grabbed a spare notebook off my desk and a pencil, before heading back downstairs into the common area, sitting on the couch. I glanced at the TV, seeing the news reporting in Kyushu, showing images from the previous evening, showing Endeavour fighting that Nomu, Hawks and I saving civilians and fighting Nomus as well, us helping Endeavour and the number one hero's victorious pose. There was very short shot of blue flames as they went out, right before the ambulances and police officers made their way to us.
I didn't really like the idea of showing up on TV news, but I guess it was something I would have to get use to it, even if it was weird, seeing 'Paralyze' on TV.
Right after, they showed real-time footage of the buildings, streets and houses being rebuilt, which was a good thing about the superhuman society, reconstruction was something the government was strict about. Or well... Most of the time they were.
I sighed and turned down to the open notebook on the coffee table. On the way here, I had remembered Endeavour's advice yesterday at the restaurant about the use of my quirk, so I wanted to try and write down different ways I could release all that energy into a ranged attack instead of storing it.
I had a few ideas, most -if not all- inspired by my classmates, starting with Izuku's Air Force.
How could I adapt his attacks to my quirk?
