ELENA'S POV :

The scholarship exams are scheduled for today. Lydia and I don't need to take them due to our exemplary grades. However, the rest of the small group went to the high school for the three-hour evaluation in order to receive a scholarship.

So this morning, I woke up Stiles, who was sleeping at my place, with pancakes and wished him good luck before taking my car to join my best friend at her place.

The latter collected Meredith's things who apparently committed suicide. We talked for a while to find a solution to unmask the benefactor but were cut off by the news. The high school has been quarantined.

So we head to the establishment and find Sheriff Stilinski there. He seems slightly anxious and quickly asks Lydia if she has a feeling. However, I turn away from the conversation and use my overdeveloped hearing to listen to what is happening inside the building. Some noises from the hallway, meaningless conversations between nurses and patients or between staff members reach me but I quickly push them aside to focus on useful things.

"Tell me Stiles, where did your friends go ? I would need visual proof for the benefactor."

My gaze deviates to the people around me and I move away towards the emergency exit. I rush inside thanks to my vampiric speed which gives me the advantage of not being noticed. I try to locate the room in which Stiles is and hear the safety catch of a weapon unlock. I almost turn into a draft as I use all my speed to be able to save my boyfriend.

STILES' POV :

He unlocks the safety catch of his weapon and aims it at my forehead. I close my eyes, trying to concentrate on my irregular breathing instead of my very probable future death.

A dull noise echoes through the room but it doesn't sound like a gunshot.

I slowly open my eyes and find myself facing nothing. I turn my head to my left and discover Elena standing next to the body of the guard who had hit the lockers so hard that he had left a trail of blood and was knocked out, probably because of the speed of the impact with the lockers that the brunette had imposed on him.

The latter gives me a relieved look before walking towards me.

"I thought I was going to be too late," she sighs.

"But you're not."

I bring her closer to me as she places her hand on my cheek and kisses me. I take full advantage of this moment of serenity before having to return to the harsh reality of current events.

"I'm glad you're okay."

"I'm glad I'm okay too but Scott and the others are in the Hale vault and-"

"The reishi," she cuts me off.
